UPDATE:  5-22-13   Still at it!   Just updating to let you all know you are not forgotten!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hi all. You all know me well enough by now to (hopefully) know where I stand on religious views (I never do like that word religious). :) Anyways....for all my friends on the board who would like to be added to a "task prayer event" please just post the name of the person you would like prayed for down at the bottom and the physical need. You can be as specific as you would like, or just post in general (example: "H&N Cancer, spread to liver, request healing" or "post treatment, pain and fatigue is high, request strength") etc., etc. The goal is to "post the names and request" on a wall in a room and to pray EVERYDAY (one time every 24 hours) and fast one time per week (Wednesday for our team) for the need / request. May have as many as 1 - 3 persons on the "prayer task team" at first, but it may grow to more. The information will not be posted anywhere else online (except for this message thread) and the "prayer task room". For those who do not subscribe to praying to or belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, please do feel free to send us positive thoughts and well wishes. Of course we invite everone to add their name and request, but we also understand not all people subscribe to this belief. This thread is NOT meant to offend, just another way of reaching out and offering help to all of us who have been through this mean disease called Oral Cancer. The "task praying" will begin Wednesday July 18th and will continue until discontinued notice sent. The goal is to keep it going. Ahy person who would like to join at part of the prayer team may send me a private message or just post you will be on the "team" so that I can know you too are praying / fasting. Fasting schedules I realize may be different due to medical or work schedules, but the goal is to fast at minimum 1 time per week for those on the list. Best, Tim Matthew 7: 7-11 New Living Translation 7 “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Jesus said: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it will be opened to you."

therefore I am asking for complete remission for my mom, for a clean PET scan in September, for the lung nodule not to grow, and most of all for strenght and faith.
Thank you so much for this post.

The Bible tells us to be "like little children" .....so I too am praying and asking for all the requests on this thread to be answered ABOVE AND BEYOND WHAT WE EVEN ASK!!! To many in this world it seems "hoakie" or "ridiculous" to hold to such belief's. I have determined I will "cast my lot" with the Lord. He has truly been good to me and my family and this world is my temporary home anyway :)

Joanna's Mom: complete remission from cancer, for a clean PET scan in September, for the lung nodule not to grow, and most of all, strength and faith for Joanna's mom and Joanna.

:) Keep us posted Joanna :) ....

Best,

Tim

..but wanted you all to know my prayers and thoughts are with you everyday...I submitted the prayer list to our local pastor for his consideration of bringing more people into the prayer group.

I care deeply about all of you and the situations you all face. I have no words of wisdom or anything to offer but my prayers.

All of you are an inspiration to me and all of you too have helped me many times :)

Just wanted to make sure you all knew that! :)

Hi Tim,

My husband was diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Ca Stage 3 on June 2012.
He will start his first treatment on Aug. 7, 2012. I hope that everything is going alright and the treatment will be effective and with less side effect. I also prayed that he will be cancer free for life after his treatment.

Thanks Tim for this post.

The Power of Prayer James 5:13-16 New Living Translation

13 Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results

PSALM 40: 1-3

1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me,
and he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair,
out of the mud and the mire.
He set my feet on solid ground
and steadied me as I walked along.
3 He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the Lord.

This particular list on this thread I do say prayers for each and every one by name and and the need(s) ...

....but just so you know.....

...you coould print off a list and at night just place your hand on the stack and say a prayer for the stack (for lack of a better explanation). I do believe that is just fine. He knows the names of each person and each request that is written, you can read it once through and then say a general prayrer over the whole list.

The reason I do each name and each request individually is I call it "task prayer"...that's when you have a specific request for an individual and their circumstances....it's my way of petition the Lord on behfalf of this person / need specifically. I so wish I could do more, but it's all I can offer.

I do have a list of persons and needs that I prayer for as a general prayer as I described above. As you said, if we did the names or needs of all we could think of it would be too immense and we are human. I do take names off the list if the need/circumstances have passed...but it always seems there is more to put on than take off.

Again, thank you very much for all your effort ...never let it be a source of "stress or burden" ...do as you can, what you can.

I figure this (my humble belief of course) what could it possibly hurt to approach the creator of the universe and all mankind, who loves us dearly and tell Him our needs. I also make it a point to thank Him for His goodness and all his blessings as well...they are too many to list in my life.....

Best,

Tim

I've told this story once (I think)...my son wanted to do "night night prayers" with me one tim and I said sure...the next night when I invited him to say them with me again he said "uhm, can't tonight dad, I'm so tired and your prayers are so long" ...LOL.

Actually I probably spend less than an hour a day with my prayer time....then some reading the Bible time on top of that...but I explained to my son..."we can spend hours in front of the tv a day and doing other things we enjoy...we can't give the good Lord some time in the day ... :) He agreed. :)

Well, obviously I'm talking too much tonight ...but it just made my day when you and Jim offered to join in as able to say prayers for those on this thread... :)

Best,

Tim

You are on the list my friend:

Denis: That you find a better place than "strange". Peace in your heart.
Family: Faith and blessings as well as strength in mind (hope you did not mind I added family)

Also, if you did not know, you and my brother share the same name, except he spells his Dennis. My 2 year old is named for my brother, his name is Raylan Dennis.

First prayer for you will be tonight ....I am up late usually on Saturday nights! I am not sure of a specific need, as I went back on previous posts I see where you had a clear scan on a Monday (last week?) ..but if you have a specific request, let me know or PM me and I will pray for that :) (I originally thought you had recurrence of a spot in your lungs on my post, so I went back and edited my post)..sorry if I got something wrong.

Keep us posted,

Hi Tim,

I would love to be added to your prayer list. I just joined the discussion group today. I'm currently starting my third week of radiation along with weekly Cetuximab to treat my cancer which started as HPV positive cancer in my right tonsil, spreading to form a neck mass. My biggest fears are the complications and pain that I've been told are almost certain to be coming. Also, I'm from Orange County, California, but am receiving my treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. I have a wife and kids at home and I miss them greatly. I do know that our God holds all things in his hands, and has promised to be there with me through all things. I do trust that, and I want him to be glorified as I go through this journey, but sometimes it is just so hard, especially when you're alone in a strange city for almost 2 months.

Thanks for lifting all these people up. You're an inspiration to me.

Thanks,
Steve.

You are both on the list ...soooo sorry it took longer to respond. I have been getting ready for hernia surgery this past week. I have to travel 100 miles south for the procedure...but I keep my laptop with me :)

Steve...

I really do know the feeling. I stayed in an RV on site at my treatment facility. I live in McCall, Idaho and was treated in Boise Idaho ...100 miles south. I was alone the first few weeks ....I was able to have my daughter (13) and my wife come help after that...but we have 5 children ages 2-13 and they were in school during my treatment.

My heart really goes out to you Steve....I know how I felt. I do hope you have someone there to help you once you get further along??

You feel free to pm me anytime....and if you ever need to talk about what to expect....I'd be happy and honored to speak with you by phone....let me know and I will provide you my cell. I have a great minutes plan!!!

Elizabeth...know your husband is on the list!

Tonight started by saying prayers for all on the list and I added you two on the top!!

Best,

Tim

Thanks, and many blessings to you.

I appreciate all the doctors, I appreciate all modern technology has to offer, truly I do ...but for each of us who were invited and accepted to be on this prayer list I truly believe it makes a difference. I truly believe the good Lord can touch and help us in ways we never would have experienced without asking. :) :)

Good night .....

So please add Susie, Tom, Brandon and Lorne to the prayer list....
Susie will need strength, and comfort and I pray for her to have an easy ride. I also pray her doctors and health care professionals will be enlightened and guided by the spirit.
The rest of the family will need comfort, strength, and compassion.
I still join you every day I can and have so much respect for you doing this....you are truly a man of god......

Means a lot to me and my family that you're doing this. It takes a great and dedicated person to take the time to pray for all of us. May God bless you!!
I'm heading into the homeward stretch (6 rads left) and i'm hurting. No taste, little to no saliva, fatigue and so forth. I put all my strength into knowing God has this under control.
I remind myself of 1st Peter 6 "So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead (meaning Heaven), even though you have to endure many trials for a little while."

Thank you Tim

for the encouraging words. I won't pretend sometimes it's not hard to keep at it when I see the bad posts on the board....but I will not give up I will not give in. I know He has things under His control and in His plan even if at times I do not understand.

Many folks laugh and tease these days ...but if I have to be a "fool" to the world...then so bit it.....I will still cast my lot with Him till the end.

I hurt that you hurt....so I asked for extran physical strenght tonight for you ....and for that wonderful NED along with many, many more good years with your family.

Hi Tim,

We'll never pass up on being on the prayer list. Kreg is having a rough time physically and mentally toward the end of treatment here. Would be great to have him on your list of prayers. And also thank you for being such a kind friend to him and I. You are a true Warrior yourself!

Kreg: Healing and strength - NED for many good years.
Cris - strength, wisdom for yourself and Kreg

Tell Kreg it does get better. I know he can do this....be sure you offer my cell (I think I included that in our talks) ...if we ever wants to talk...I'm available...though I know right now all is effort is on just maintaing strength mentally and physically.

I use that 100% Whey Protein mix in skim milk...it's made by Twinlab. I still use it. It has 25g of protein in each scoop. Ensure plus has 13g of protein...that protein helps healing....I'm sure you are aware of all of this ...but in case not...get him to take all the protein he can..

Thinking of you both ....

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving ....now for Christmas .....

I would appreciate any and all good thoughts for my dad and his medical team. He's 94, 10 years cancer-free, but now, it's back. 2nd recurrence. SCC floor of mouth. PET scan today. Please don't let the age fool you...he's not ready "to go" and I'm not ready to be without the strongest man in my life.

A few prayers never hurt anybody! Thanks for listening...
