Second PET scan result

Hi

I've finished my NPC treatment 6 months ago and this is my second PET scan. My radiation onco asked me to do CT scan to clear things up from the PET result.

PET result are as follows:-
================================================
COMMENT
1. There is ongoing good metabolic response in previous intensely FDG avid malignancy in the right nasopharynx.
2.The curvilinear increased FDG uptake in the right prevertebral location at C1 level is nonspecific and could represent inflammation or muscular activity. Tumour recurrence considered less likely but cannot be entirely excluded. Comparison with a progress FDG PET study may be of benefit.
3. Asymmetric increased uptake in the left parotid gland likely represent intercurrent inflammation. Clinical correlation is suggested. features consistent with sinus disease. No evidence of new FDG avid malignancy in the head & neck region.
4.Stable non-FDG avid opacity in the right lung.

=========================================================

At this stage not sure do I have to worry about it or not? Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Neo

    Overall....
    It doesn't sound bad or anything.. other than probable residual.

    Most sounds like improvement over the other PET scan.

    But of course your ENT or other MD's will have to communicate their feelings on the results and interrupt #2.

    Did anyone communicate with you their feelings on the results?

    Of course I'm no professional....

    Hoping you hear some good news on the report soon.

    Second PET
    That is just the kind of results we kept getting, not the clean scan we wanted. We were told that with head and neck cancer just such results are typical and that continued surveillance it the only thing to do. Unfortunately, that does not help with the anxiety. So sorry you are still dealing with this. Karen

    PET
    Neo Theron91,

    It is probably residual, your body has seen a lot of action. I know every time I have a PET my rectum always lights up, but every time they look in the back door all is well (thank God).

    Let’s pray your fine and it is nothing.

    Best,

    Matt

    Hello ! Pets pick up alot of residue results...up and to arthritis, head colds we don't even know we have (ect.) try not to worry until the doctors tell you to worry. Yeah I know easier said than done. I'm hoping that all stays calm for you, and wishing you the best ! Katie

    Thanks for your reply.

    Onco doc said don't worry too much and ask me to check CT scan. Even though she said don't worry but I can't stop thinking about it. Anxiety is the main factor. Hope my next week CT scan will give me good result that I need.
