Take lots of deep breaths
Take lots of deep breaths and try to keep super busy .... waiting is the worst part! Prayers and positive thoughts frim Alaska ..... lots of support here from others who have been thru that surgery ... keep us posted and try long walks, movies , and other activities to help with the waiting period..... hugs Sue D0 -

It is nerve racking. My wife had her bilateral mastectomy in May, dealing with the expanders now...she's going nuts and can't wait for it to be over. It's a process; slow and boring. She's at a point now where she can start walking in the park again. Feeling much better.
You'll do fine and we'll be praying for a speedy recovery for you.

May Surgery
I had my bi-lateral in May and have my expanders now. The surgery for me went very well and my recovery went well also. Although I do still have a nasty drain in. The drains are the most inconvenient part. Mine never hurt me, I can't speak for others. My arms were never sore, I had minimal bandages. The worst part is seeing yourself in naked the first time. For me, I knew what I thought to expect but the reality hit a little harder. But with hubby's great support and encouragement, I was able to look past tubes and scars and see a future of hope, cancer free! Sleeping was not fun, but good pillows, lots of propping here and there and a good nights rest is possible. I began to get antsy around the end of week two and started taking short walks every morning. It helped me, I enjoyed that alone time and I also liked that I could do a little more each week. I don't know what worries you are having specifically, but please know there are many here who have gone where you are going and will happily extend a hand to help you do it....here is my hand...............

Surgery on the 9th
Focus on the positive!!! I know right now you probably can't see any positive....but remember the surgery is the first step in your recovery, you can't get better with out each one of the steps that have been set out for you. I have 3a Breast Cancer and am just finishing up my chemo. Each step I have had to continually tell myself....I need to do this to get better...this is going to help me live!!! Remember your goal is life! You can do it!!!!0 -

I was scared too. But my double masectomy went very wll. Now I have the pernement ones in and I'm cancer free.Be upbeat everyday and it will be fine. I was lucky to be upbeat and have a lot of support. Remeber be upbeat, say prayers, and alot of support is important. Good luck0 -

This is YOUR journey, comparing what others have gone through (whether they've gone through more or less) takes away from the validity of your feelings. And you are completely entitled to those feelings.
Have you talked with your doc about the anxiety? Do you have meds on hand for that? If so, at least take them at night so you can sleep. Eat right, get a little sunshine, and a little exercise...do things to distract.
Waiting for the unknown is horrible! So try and do something fun while you bury your head in the sand for a little while.
I hope you get through this time with some calm and some peace. Best wishes for a smooth surgery and a quick recovery.

I know that I will get through this, I don't like surgery and I want it done. Hopefully, the sentinal node will be negative and that will be the end of it. I am not having reconstruction so all I need to do is heal.
I just don't do waiting well but everyone is trying to help me. I'm just whining!

I/ We totall understand...that is why anytime I need surgery I tell them to give me the first appt I can get and first appt of the day etc...I want it over yesterday..

I decided I needed to do a few things: I got some liquid latex and we spent most of yesterday evening making a mold of my boobs!! So now I can have them on the wall since they won't be on my chest. And I got some pink to spray on my hair for surgery--I have *very* short grey hair.

Hysterical!!!! Love your idea about the liquid latex and a mold of your breasts! Can you
have your hubby take a photo of your short stylist gray and pink hair. I am sure

The surgery went fine other than they could not find the sentinel node. So I will get the final pathology report on the breasts themselves tomorrow at my post op visit. I'm home - they kept me overnight because I have oxygen issues at night ever since the PE shower. But all that had gone well--they glued me because I do not do well with tape. However. The also left my IV at D5 (sugar water for the non medical) and I'm diabetic and could not figure out my high sugars! Then they wanted to keep me because they were too high. Finally convinced them that I can watch at home--LET ME OUT! They did. My kitties are happy to see me. I slept in my own bed and I'm OK. My one question: how did I have a bilateral mastectomy and gain 4 pounds?! **sigh**
Anyway, thanks for the well wished and I'll try to get a picture up with the pink hair!
