I saw my oncologist last week and my scan was CLEAR again! Blood work was also good. I'm now a year post treatment. In fact, the end of my treatment was the beginning of my retirement (same day)- (early retirement from 37 years of teaching). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to complete the school year. I'm doing well. I still have residual side effects from the radiation. I see the colorectal doctor this week. I can hardly wait - lol!
Best wishes to all of you going through treatment! You'll make it! Treatment will be over before you know it and then the healing will begin quickly!

    Thanks
Thanks to everyone for the good wishes! The best to all of you! I see the colorectal dr. tomorrow for 3 month check up. I still have bleeding but was told that's due to the radiation, but it's still unnerving since that was one of the symptoms I had pre treatment.

    Hi Ann--
I just wanted to wish you all the best with your appt. tomorrow. I'm sure your bleeding issues are radiation-related. I'm almost 4 years post-treatment and still have bouts of it, especially if I get constipated. I know what you mean about it being unnerving though. Please let us know how the appt. goes.

Yes, the bleeding issues are radiation related -- radiation proctitis. The dr viewed the area with a camera today and I got to watch on the monitor. Hope it doesn't show up on You Tube - lol! He said everything looked fine and I'm now on the 6 month schedule instead of every 3 months. The exam was a bit uncomfortable, especially afterwards because of the air.I had to deflate myself - lol! (I also have some stenosis). It was the same kind of camera that is used in a colonoscopy. Didn't need to do any prep. In fact, I didn't know he was going to use the camera. Thought it would be the anoscope. It was interesting...and glad he's keeping close tabs.
I have another P.E.T. scan in November and then scans as needed. The scan did show some inflammation in the hips which explains why I was having discomfort a few months ago, but am fine now.
So now I'll make appointment to see primary care dr to see what's next and ask her what supplements I should be taking. During treatment an insurance nurse followed me through treatment. Thought I was finished with that and now another one has recently contacted me.
    Well, we made it!!!

So glad to hear your scan went well. We are very close. I see my Oncologist and go for scans and back to the Colo rectal surgeon for another exam coming up for the next month and a half. (Surgeon on August 14th). August 15th was my last treatment. Thanks for your post. It means a lot to all of us. I am really happy for you.
