Locked, Loaded & Ready to Go

Options
After surgery, MRI's, CT's, PET Scans, mask fitting, dozens of blood draws, practice radiation session, and countless doctor visits - my husband's third battle with the beast begins on Monday. He is not able to participate in the clinical trial that we were all excited about, as they were concerned about some of his levels in his bloodwork. We cannot catch a break.

Monday morning at 8:15 - picc line insertion, then we go directly to chemo clinic for cisplatin and all the side dishes that go along with that, then 3:15 we go for radiation. It will be a long day and I have mixed feelings - ready to get to the battle but dreading what I know it will cause.

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes, I will check in next week and give an update. Happy weekend to all.

Lack of direct participation in the clinical trial
should not be a huge impediment. They will go off protocal because of the altered lab parameters, but still, the treatment effect will be the same. Sounds like the picc line will be a blessing. I had seven lab draws in the week before they put my power port in. Gosh I was happy to get the power port. My veins recovered pretty well during treatment, and my power port is coming out about six weeks from now.

Keep a positive outlook, both of you! Its good to be headed forward. best wishes to you!

Good Luck to all of you, this stuff really sucks, but getting started is the only way to get to the end. God Bless you and your family.

    Ditto, ditto
Best to you and your husband Kimmy. LongTerm is recovering from his third treatment very well. As ditto said, the quickest way to get it over with is to start. That first day will in fact be the longest. Mercifully, the days should blur later for you all--I always considered that twilight time a blessing. Then you can all begin to heal.

The first step is the longest....I'm sorry you guys have had make the first step more than once, that does put a damper on the "getting into action"....experience isn't always good. Still you'll do it, and there will be an end in sight...and we'll be cheering you as you exit the tunnel.

Got my picc installed friday for the monday ride. Maybe your husband could teach me a few things about how to hold the reins of this thing, so the first ride won't be so bad, i'll be right beside him watching how he does it. Hopes and wishes your way...
