It's back

I just received info from my oncologist that me cancer is back. I have to have surgery and then the same chemo treatment I had the last time. I am really feeling sorry for myself right now because I know what to expect. Does anyone have any suggestions for the pain in the bones of the legs from treatment? It is so painful it wakes me up even when i'm on painpills.

    Sorry for your bad news
So sorry how long of a break did you get? I don't have an answer for your leg pain but it may not react the same way this time. Good luck

    I am so sorry
to hear you have to go through it again. Speak to your doctors about the pain. In retrospect I endured a lot of things because I thought I had to. I didn't want to call the doctor about symptoms I believed were "normal" side effects of the treatment. If I had to go through it again I would definately be more in contact with my doctor.

I wish you the best and pray for a quick and long remission for you.

I thought vicoden was the best pain reliever for me for bone pain. Talk to your doctor about what works for you and what doesn't. There is a whole plethora of narcotics out there and what works for me may not work for you. I also found getting exercise as much as possible helped. I couldn't do much during the chemo crash but I do try to get 20-30 minutes of exercise a day as much as possible.

    I'm so sorry
that you have to fight this again. I too am hoping that your leg pain is absent or at least milder this time around. Besides the pain pills, maybe you can ask your doctor if something like heating pads would help. I was lucky in that I had only mild leg pain for the first three days or so after each treatment, and I'm lucky that I have a husband who gave me leg massages which really helped me. Please keep us posted on your progress!

    Take care,

    claritin
I am on pain medication Morphine 30mg am, 60mg noon, and 60mg pm and it helped with most but I was still having some problem. I finally added claritin, I had been told by so many people that it really helped at first I was like righhhht allergy medication I will jump right on that but I didn't. My mom really pushed me when one night I just was having some problems with the pain so I tried it and guess what it works, I take 10mg each afternoon and I am able to sleep. Find a pain doctor that specializes in pain management for cancer patients they will be able to help you so much. I am so sorry about the reoccrence I will be lifting you up in my prayers and please keep coming so we can lift you up.

    Love, Hugs, and Prayers

I cannot even tell you how sorry I am to hear this. Nothing anyone says helps. How long was your remission? what type of cancer did you have? stage? tumor grade?
We have something in common. The extreme leg pain. aches to sharp stabbing, no way to get comfortable and I have found nothing to help. I will keep looking and let you know if something helps me. You do the same for me? Prayers to you

    SO SORRY
I know what it's like to be told you have a recurrance, and must do everything all over again. I tried to be positive - at least I knew what to expect from chemo, etc. Soaking in a warm/hot tub help the pain, especially before bed. I also took B-6 and L-Glutamine which helped. I agree also with the ladies - give your doctor a heads up that you may be needing something for the pain. There's lots of options. My doctor always speaks of 'quality of life', so I don't think there should be a problem making sure you are comfortable.

Sending hugs and prayers to you.

    Yes, glutamine really helped
Or I assume it was the glutamine. (One tsp in a glass of water three times a day starting the day before chemo and continued first three days OF chemo--prescribed by integrative doctor.)

Was also taking two tsp of fish oil (by Pharmax) a day after meals.

Was also prescribed a scoop of ProGreens in glass of water before breakfast each day.

Whichever it was (or combination of all), was lucky to have NO pain or neuropathy whatsoever during six rounds of taxol/carboplatin.

    Best,
    Rosey

    Thank you
The first time it was ovarian and now it's in 2 lymph nodes and 1 other in the abdoman. I am supposed to get a call in the next couple of days to be told when my sugery is scheduled. I'll have to remember to ask the doctor about something else to try for the pain. You will also be in my prayers. KK

    How long for you?
    Hi Monika,
I was in remission for 15 months and now I have 3 spots that the doctor is going to surgically remove from my abdoman and then Chemo again. How long were you in remission? I was told that I will more than likely continue to have it come back. Now that is scary.

Hugs and prayers back to you,
