I am new to the site and would like to chat with other GLBT folks dealing with cancer.
Hi Harry and welcome to the site.
I sent you a private message.
Hi, Harry. How are you doing? Welcome to the site. It can get kind of slow, but we're out here.
My name is Jack and I'm living in San Francisco with liver cancer, diagnosed a bit more than a year ago. Feel free to respond here or contact me privately.
Hi: I am a 63yr. old gay male living in Toronto.
I have recently been diagnosed with a rare form of small bowel cancer (macropapilliary adnocarcenoma). I had a re-section of the small bowel and an infected lymph node. A post-op CT showed no spread to distant organs but a suspicious 1.6 cm soft tissue mass adjacent to the re-section spot (a spread of the cancer or post surgical trauma?) I am having a second surgical consult to see if more lymph nodes can be removed.
I started chemo thursday (Folfox) although the effiacy is some where between 7%-15% with 'success' being defined as prolonging life by 12-14 months. No ill side effects (except some hiccups) and it is day 4 post the initial chemo - Ihear side effects may hit day 5 -7- I have my fingers crossed) My prognosis is not good.
We have a gay men's cancer survivor's + partners group here. Most have been through a prostate cancer scare but one is a melonoma cancer survivor who actually dodged the bullet.
Open to chatting any time
Hi Carl and welcome to this site.
I'm so sorry you have to be here. You might consider the colorectal
board. I've been on this site for nearly a year now and have
found it to be very helpful. I am a survivor of Diffuse Large B Cell
Lymphoma (small intestine/mesentary) and predominantly communicate
on that board (Lymphoma (Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin).
I have found folks here to be very caring and supportive and non-judgemental.
Feel free to message me if you'd like to talk. I know this is scary and
a tough journey.
Hugs and positive thoughts,
DX: DLBL 4/2011, Chemo completed 10/2011, currently in remission. :)
