Silly Question

Tomorrow I fly back to NY to get my mother's apartment ready for renting. I haven't any desire to go. Tonite, I played back the slideshow I had put together for her service. I swear I heard her tell me to turn it off....so I did.....would never want to risk the wrath of my MOM..LOL..ok, here's the question:

Are they really watching over us? Is Saundra around? Bonnie? My heart wants to believe yes...my head says no....you all are always so wise....

PS. Saw a rattlesnake today....slithering across the road...it was weird...not threatening at all....

I am rambling.....not looking forward to this trip...how many times have I written this.....

    Hi LIsa,
good to see a post from you! I'm sorry that you have to take this difficult trip. If it helps you to know your mom is going with you, then absoluteyl! I think I would buy her a ticket and siit her down in the seat next to you! It is anyone's guess, if those who have passed can see us, but there are certainly a lot of examples of people hearing them speak or feeling their presence, for whatever it is worth. Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze had a really good deal going with each other, certainly you could too..... She can help you make all those tricky decisions, don't you think? Will your sister go with you too?

    Warm hugs, and safe travels!

I have three children that I was not able to carry full term and just thinking they are watching and waiting for the day that we are back together helps me make it through the day. If it makes you feel good to think your mom is wathcing how does that hurts your.

Much love, hugs, and prayes as you go throught this tuff job.

It only matters what YOU think and what gives you strength. Personally, my personal faith tells me our loved ones are waiting and on stand by to help us get there. I know I will see them because I accepted Jesus Christ as my saviour and to me that goes hand in hand with them watching over us. If I did not believe this it would be hard to go on.
Here is hoping the trip is quickly behind you without problems. Blessings, judy :)

    Hi Girl
So nice to hear from you and see your "sweet" face. It's a tough job you have ahead of you and most of us have been through the last sorting through of our loved ones possessions. It can be very painful, yet joyous all at the same time. As to your question... I have always had rather unconventional beliefs, but my heart believes yes. Let us know how it all goes for you.

We'll all be with you in spirt if that helps. I'd like to think they are watching over us.. but sometimes, most of the time, I find myself doubting it. I don't really feel my mom's presence though I think about her every day and every night. It's been 2 1/2 yrs and I still wake up and think "Oh yeah, my mom is gone. She's gone, how can that be possible" it tends to throw a pall on the day before it's even started. It's always bothered me that I don't dream about her, just one silly little dream. After my father passed, I dreamt about him all the time for the first 6 mos or so. If my mom is watching she's probably really pissed at me for being so sad , so angry, so hung up on the unfairness of it all . I just read a good book, a new release from Amazon, The rules of inheritance. It's a true memoir , written by a woman who is a grief counselor for hospice. She lost both of her parents to cancer, her mom at 18, her Dad at 25. She was an only child (had 3 half siblings ), she drank too much, stayed in a very unhealthy relationships, but ultimately turned her life around and found her true calling. Though the book is a bit depressing, it helped me to read it. I could so relate to so many things she felt and said and did.
    Big hugs,
    Cindy

    Absolutely
I absolutely believe they are with us. I have a dear friend who had lengthy conversations with her grandfather, long after he had passed. She definitely has the ability to see people from the other side. After my dad passed, I asked him to let me know if there is something beyond this life, or if this is all just an exercise in biology. A week later, my friend called and asked if there was something going on with my dad. She had taken some of the furniture from his house when we were cleaning it out, and she said someone was hanging around that part of her livingroom. I told her that I had asked him to show me if there is something beyond this life. After that, he didn't return. But it proves to me that they are there.

    Yes!
Absolutely yes, I believe they are.

My mom was stage 4 and passed away in November.
Rarely complained, gave it her all, found her wings in the end peacefully, at home like she wanted, with her family by her side.

During the last month of her life, as her physical strength was failing, I would often just lie in bed with her and talk about anything and everything. I knew from visiting this board everyday that things can take a turn for the worst very quickly and without warning. Tears fell often for other mothers and daughters like myself going through the most difficult time of their life and knew what may be in store for us one day. Knowing you may loose your mother and the feeling of helplessness is pretty much unbearable.

During one of our talks, I told her, “Mom…if you die before me, whether it be in one day, a week, a month, year, or ten years, try to find a way to let me know you’re okay.
    She promised she would.

The day came without warning. The peaceful transition for my mom I had hoped, but never ready for, had happened that evening in November.
Later that night at home, in bed, can’t sleep…hours go by…just thinking about everything…tears…. had the urge to get out of bed and go to the window. Looked outside, and no sooner than I did, the biggest, brightest, incredibly golden, low in the sky shooting star traveled slowly across the sky heading north and I knew instantly that was her way of telling me.

    You found a way, mom.

    Hi Lisa
I know how hard it is to go through a loved one's possessions when every item has special meaning for you or had special meaning for her. You're stronger than you think and you'll be able to do it. I truly believe that our loved ones watch over us after they pass and I think your mom will be with you as you take on this difficult task.

    Take care,
    Kelly

    Our Moms
    Hi Lisa,
It's been 7 1/2 months since my Mom passed away. I miss her everyday.
This is what happened to me:
My nephew and my Grandma share the same birthday, February 20th. My Grandma died October 8th, 2008. In February we all gathered at my sister's house to celebrate his birthday. I knew Mom must have been hurting and thinking of her mom all day. I got her a card and this is what i wrote:

    Dear Mom,
I want you to know that i think about Grandma a lot but especially today. I am sure wherever she is she's kicking up her heels eating birthday cake and claiming "I never eat this."
I'm sure you miss her and think of her often. She was lucky to have had such a wonderful daughter just as I am lucky to have such a wonderful mom.
They (whoever they are) say getting through the firsts without someone is the hardest. Now you have crossed another hurdle. Please know Grandma is celebrating her and Tyler's birthday today just as you are.
I hope today finds you thinking of Grandma with a smile and not a tear. I love you very, very much.
    Love,
    Kelly

Now this may not seem like such a big deal except that my mom had a night stand in her bedroom. I had been through her nightstand many times after she left looking for things. Well on September 21st, 2011 ( 34 days after she died), I found this card right on top of her things. What is odd about this is September 21st is Mom's birthday. I had been hurting all day. I feel like Mom was telling me to read my words and to not be sad when I think of her. I promised her when she was dying I wouldn't be sad when she was gone.

So to me this was my sign. I hope wherever she is she's taking care of me. I have begun running and whenever I have having a hard time getting through it I can almost hear her saying "come on, you can do this." Mom was very athletic and she'd be proud I am running for her.

    Lisa

It's good to hear you got thru that experience. I believe we never get over losing a loved one although we learn to live with the loss eventually. Thanks for your kind words and prayers. I hope you sleep well and maybe your mom might visit your dreams.
