Squamous Cell Tonsil Cancer

My husband just finished up his treatments for Squamous Cell Tonsil Cancer 2/15/12, right tonsil and one lymph node. 40 Radiation Treatments and 6 Chemotherapy treatments. Now we are waiting for the Pet Scan to be done in about 3 to 4 more weeks. His lymph node is still there, not as big as it was, it is shrinking, but not gone away completely....has this happened to anyone else?

Squamus cell carcinoma on tongue

Rusty - I had Stage 4 squamus cell at the base of my tongue, the tumor was the size of a golf ball. I finished 35 RAD treatments and 3 chemo on Dec 9th, 2011. My throat is still swollen, and my radiologist said it could take up to a year for it to go down fully. Dont fret, the body heals slowly after something so drastic, and this treatment is a DOOZY! Best wishes to your husband on his recuperation.....I am now cancer free so look to the future. He will get better slowly but surely....but if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
