A bit of interesting destiny....

I added Nancy Wasen (nwasen) on FaceBook earlier today.

The first thing I saw on her wall was that she just friended Zack, my nephew. I was WTH, what did I do that my family is showing up on her friends list...thinking some how I was looking at my friends, but they were showing up on her list.

Come to find out, Nancy knew my sister when they were very young, late teens, early twenties I presume.

Even more weird, as many of you know a little of my history. I didn't even know about my sisters or meet any of them until early 2010..LOL.

So Nancy actually knew my sister a ton of years before I did....LOL.

~John

    Small World
John, I was about 32 when I met Maureen and I think she was 21.
I had no idea you didn't know your sister back then. I remember very little of talk of families...we were too busy partying...
That is funny that I knew your sister before you did.
What a trip this life is!

    Six degrees of separation
It sure seems like it is a small world sometimes. Greg53 of this website and I have exactly the same treatment team. Same ENT Oncologist, same medical oncologist, and same nuclear med doc.

    Sister...
Nancy, they didn't even know they had a brother until later in life.

We shared the same father genetically, but he wasn't talking LOL....he passed several years ago, and the secret was out.

I was never sure he was my father until they contacted me....OH, and BTW, do you know how they finally found me after several years of looking for me....

I was 56 when I found out that I had four sisters....LOL. I'm their rock star, the brother they never had growing up.

    Yep...FaceBook

I go to a message board that has a people search section & FB is the place I always suggest 1st. It's amazing how many people don't think of it. Have you googled to see if they did something similar?

    Something Similar...
    Not sure what you mean.....

We have all met, and are connected now.

Another funny part to that story. The youngest of the sisters actually lives about 40 miles from me here in Florida...

LOL, very close to Bass Pro Shop...so I know our paths have crossed. I always look her up when I'm over there so we can do lunch and catch up.

    If you google your name;
If you google your name; they may have made posts at message boards looking for you. The one I go to is called City-Data.

    Oh...
No, we had different names, they didn't know mine for several years. Then one of the younger nieces happened to find my military history and she just happened to check FaceBook.

I look a lot like their father (go figure), and as soon as she saw my photo on FaceBook, she got a hold of the brothers to check me out, LOL...

Another thing funny about that, I had only had my wife add me on to her account a few weeks before that. So when she did, she made it so both our names were on it.

I just added Zack as a friend yesterday! He had been playing in my ex husband's band and I wanted no link to him. When I heard your nephew was no longer in the band I thought it would be ok....how's that for timing??!!
kind of freaks me out (in a good way)

    ~Best,

    Fishin
Just saw Pat (LTS) this morning. Changed my profile pic to my original one - just to let Pat know I fish and I'm gonna take him up on his offer to go fishing. BTW - Pat's a good-lookin' guy (but he should post a pic of his wife for his profile pic).

John, I will make it down your way to fish one of these days also (lookout I'm headed your way at the end of March)

    Small World
John & Nancy - that is eerie (do-do-do-do-do-do, that was me humming the theme to Twighlight Zone)

My six degrees of separation story.
-An old team mate from my sports years contacted me while I was in treatment. He had same diagnosis 4 years prior to me. We had lost contact up to that point. Ended up having same exact team of docs which neither of us knew til then. Continue meeting him now.
-I was golfing with a client 6 months post tx. He was complaining of lump in his neck. I mildly warned that maybe he should see an ENT (didn't specify one). 6 months later when I heard from him - he was seeing same docs as I went to. Again no prior knowledge of who I was seeing.
-LTS and I - yep same team of docs.
Guess maybe not small world, but good docs.

Of course there is my buddy Mike (Luv4lacrosse) also. We've become friends and have met several times. Ended up - same high school, same profession, wives are both nurses, we grew up a mile apart and now live closer to one another in a different part of town and didn't meet until we connected here at CSN.

    Positive thoughts to all

    Greg
