Bad news yesterday

Well the doctors came into my room to talk to my wife and me after the big tumor board meeting, to tell me that the cancer is inoperable and no radiation could be done, the tumor is growing around my carotid artery and could at any time collapse it or cut into it and basically kill me instantly. How do you take that conversation, they did say that there is one chemo that has shown promise in the past and I can try that, well hell if that is my only option then poison me up. I don't know what was harder telling my kids, 5, 8, and 13 or my dad face to face. He called today while I was taking a nap and is a complete mess. He already berried one son, my brother 8 years ago from a motorcycle wreck. Anyway getting over the pneumonia pretty good, sent me home with a pick line and still on IV antibiotics. Have a home health care nurse that comes over and helps with the drugs. Should hear this week about the chemo and when to start, have the trace in now, not very comfortable but at least I can breath.

Thanks for all your support

Brad

I'm sorry to hear of the difficult situation. i'm glad to hear your breathing is better with your trache in place. Managing that will get easier very quickly. What can you do but move forward with whatever is available to you? My best wishes to you and your family.

    For **** Sake
Very sorry to hear of this latest trial Brad. Glald to hear you are brething easier, and there is a treatment you can try. The ticklish carotid artery situation is a real head banger. It must have bee extremely hard to tell your family, but they are in it with you, as we are. If you can use any help in terms of research in any matter to prepare in any way, I'm retired and a whiz at Internet searches. Email me here if I can be any help. They don't use regular treatmnet procedures that don't have a history of success to some degree, so keep your hope.

    best, Hal

    new chemo
    Brad,
Sorry for your news but hopefully the new chemo will shrink your tumor. My husband went through so many "chemo cocktails" and is finally on one that has shrunk his tumors considerably. They told us there are more tools in the toolbox so you never know which one your cancer will respond to.
    Best wishes,
    Robin
