CA125 nadir after successful recurrence treatment compared with that at the conclusion of the succes

Those of you who have recurred and then went into remission, was your CA125 at the end of the successful recurrence treatment lower, higher, or about the same as it was when you first went into remission?

More broadly, if you had multiple remissions, do the CA125 nadir value after each successful treatment vary?

    Sorry you are not getting any replies. I never went into remission. My CA-125 started rising 3 months after treatment ended. How are you doing on your therapy so far?

    if your CA125 started to rise after a few months, does it not mean that you were in remission during those 3 months?


    I don't know if you saw my last post: I was booted off of a trial because they decided that my disease progressed while on treatment. I sort of proved them wrong, and actually the treatment was working very well. But,can't go back on the trial any way.

    I switched to Gemzar/Avastin after I was off the trial. This Friday I am starting a third cycle. After the first cycle of this new treatment, CA125 dropped very nicely. This week,another CA125 will tell me whether that continues as a trend.... I have read enough cases where the treatment that seemed to work initially have stopped working, so I don't take anything for granted.

    I have started this thread to see whether there is a pattern for "repeat offenders" :-) with regard to CA125 nadir at each starting point of remissions.....

    Check with Leesa G. Her CA125 nadir was 16 (I think) before she recurred, then after treatment for brain mets, it went down to 10. She is in her second remission.

    Carcinomatosis issue
    My scan never showed "NED" and because of the carcinomatosis (secondary peritoneal cancer), the doctor expects me to be on & off chemo for the rest of my life. So I was on a chemo break for three months.

    I've been using 50 Gm vitamin C IV treatments twice weekly to slow progression of the disease.

    I have seen several oncologist and none of them will treat me with Avastin yet. I think it's because of my insurance (Anthem). One oncologist made the comment "After you fail on a few different treatments, it'll be easier to get your insurance to approve Avastin for you."

    I do think you will continue to do well.
