in Esophageal Cancer #1
This past evening, this beast of a cancer took my 37 year old husband away from me, my 8 year old and 12 year old and all of his family and friends. I am heart broken beyonds words, but want to thank all of you for being here and posting. I read these boards countless times everyday in order to gain knowledge and support. The recent weeks I did not post much, if at all, because of how difficult it was managing Kevin as well as my children. Most importantly though, I want you all to know that I appreciated you openness and honesty.

I hope to return and use our experience in order to help others on this board. I will need time to heal, but will try to make these boards as part of my healing process.

    We are SO sorry...
    And saddened. But it is over, and Kevin is at peace. The pain of this place is finding friends, only to know we may lose them. But we are better for having even a brief flash of their existence in our lives.

    Whitney, take care of yourself and your kiddos. Cry and grieve. And we join you.

    I cannot begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss! Kevin put up a strong fight and you've been right there beside him the whole time.

    My children are similiar ages. I can only imagine the heartbreak in your house right now. It's hard enough to deal with your own grief, but to having to help the little grieve - wow....

    There aren't words enough, Whitney. I pray you and your children find peace and are able to take comfort in each other. I'm sure you will find smiles again in your wonderful memories of Kevin.

    I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. There are no words to express how sad I am for you, but I hope that you and your children can find comfort in memories. Your love for Kevin was evident in all your postings, and your sorrow must be so intense. I wish you peace and comfort in this terrible time.

    My heart is filled with sadness for you and your family. I know it has been a battle since his last chemo and SIR treatment. It is painful to see someone so young be taken by this disease.

    May God wrap you and your family in his loving arms and give you peace and support during this difficult time.

    I am so very sorry for all of you. Even though the pain and suffering are over for him, yours will continue for a little while longer. I have been told that the first year is the most difficult and losing very close loved ones myself, I found that to be true.

    May the beautiful memories you have made bring you and the kids peace and comfort for years to come.

    I want to thank you and your family for the contributions you have made to EC - I'm sure that many, many others yet to be diagnosed with EC will benefit from the knowledge gained during your battle with this beast.

    You and your family will remain in our prayers and thoughts.

    I'm sorry for your loss
    I'm 37 and I can't imagine being sick at my age. I'm so sorry for your loss. Absolutely not fair, not fair at all, that is way too young. I'm sure you did an amazing job as a caretaker, wife, and mother. Strength to your family during this difficult time.

    Whitney, my heart just breaks for you and your children. I am grieving for my husband Greg who passed on Oct 24 from this awful disease. Your Kevin was definately too young to leave this earth and his family. I have no profound words. I am just so so sorry.
