    We are all age groups
I am 54, but was originally diagnosed at 44. We really do range from 20 on up. And we are represented by both male and female Pink Warriors. We are all here for support as well as to support each other. I can honestly say that this group has been soo much help to me.

    Glad you are here.

    Hi littlebe
I remember it well, it was a little over a year ago, it was the first time I understood the word terror~it will be ok, you will make it through the treatments ~ I am 58 ~ you will get to know some of us, and even like some of us~we have all been through various stages of breast cancer and surgerys~we all are here for the same reasons you are, we were scared too, and reached out for help, we will laugh with you, cry with you, and support you, and you will in turn do the same for us, and the next person that says, I am scared...hang in there young lady~hang in there~ there isn't anything that you can't ask~join the chat room too, lots of great people there, just click the word chat on the left in the CSN box and it will take you to the Lobby, that is where we are hanging out at all hours of the day and night...love to you, hugs to you, and welcome to the club, that no one wants to join~Sinee

thank you MAJW! I really need to talk to others that have gone and are going thru this.so far it has not been too bad, but dreading the next treatment.I'm not very computer savvy and was wondering if there is a way I can respond to all who answered my post without doing it individually? This is real fear!how long have you been in treatment? how many chemo treatments? I was told initially that with mastectomy, if the lymph nodes were clear there would be no chemo or rad. then the oncotype DX test came back neg. and my doc said that called for chemo. 4 treatments. my lymp nodes are clear, so that is big thing, and very important. thanks

    not alone
thanks you all for answering my post !jnl,camal,laughs_a _lot and sinee and MAJW

did I figure out how to respond to all of you with one post? :) I think I am having chemo brain! my 2 older sisters also had breast cancer , one is a survivor the other not. Kinda knew this was coming but my sis's were younger than I,one was 53 and the other 65.I know I am so very blessed that the cancer was very small, only detected by mammogram and MRI, no lump was felt and my lymph nodes were clear!I was told initially there would be no chemo or rad.was sent to an oncologist and he said I would take armidex for 5 yrs. but meantime was having the oncotype DX test done . It came back neg. so the doc said that called for 4 treatmeants of chemo. I agreed but now have doubts. does anyone have similiar? Are there any long term affects of chemo? I'm afraid that the chemo will be so debilitating that I won't be able to take care of myself. How do you all manage everything?

God Bless each of you! I'm looking forward to hearing from you and praying for each of you. one thing this disease has done is make me not to take so many things for granted

    Welcome
I am so sorry that you have had to join our pink sisterhood, but I'm glad you found this site. We understand your fear because we've all felt it & most of us still feel scared. I was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer last year 2 days before thanksgiving at the age of 44. We are a strong group of women & men warriors ranging from all ages. But we all have lots in common & we share a bond that is stronger than strong. You will find that you are never alone here, your pink sisters & brothers will be right here with you helping you fight this battle & win. We will hold you up when you feel as though you just can't do this & we will shower you with lots of hugs & positive energy.

Please remember that you are stronger than you realize & you can do this. Come here often, there is always someone online to talk to & share things with. Good luck in your chemo.

    Hugs & God Bless,

    Dawne

I am 59 and was diagnosed this past Aug. After a masectomy in Sept, with no lymph nodes involved, I was told I would have to have 8 treatments of chemo. I will be getting my 6th one on the 22nd of Dec. Luckily my husband has been a great help to me, for some days were fairly rough. You will find lots of great people on this site to help answer your questions and pray for you during your battle with the beast. I wish you the best, you can do it!

    Hugs and prayers,

Thank goodness you are almost finished with chemo! I was told that there would be no chemo or rad. if the lymph nodes were not involved, but one test came back negative so the oncologist said 4 treatments of chemo. I think he said precautionary. I feel I am very blessed that I only need 4, because like everyone else I am afraid. Just being able to talk to others is a tremendous help and I thank God for each of you.Maybe I can have my husband to post a pic of us, grandparents of 8 and great grandparenst of 1!

hugs and prayers to you also

Welcome, littlebe, to the club that no one wants to join. I am in my mid-60's & out of treatment (except for tamoxifen) for over 2 years. I was so scared at first! This board has helped so much! My life is not the same as before, but I have regained my strength & health and I feel great! Prob. the only words of wisdom that I can give you is to try to eat right and exercise regularly.

Good luck & let us know how everything goes!

thank you! The Club That No one Wants To Join, could be a title of a book! I know my life will never be the same as before but thinking that will be a good thing. I am very much into eating right. Just sent my husband to the grocery to get more foods that will be good for me,and him also! My appetite is still ok,although there are some foods that I can't really think about.

Is that your beautiful cat? I miss our Miss Kitty so much. We had to put her to sleep 2 yrs. ago at age 17! My husband and I love kitty cats, but don't think I will be getting another.

    thanks for you kind words.

    I'm in your age group
I was diagnosed at 62 (almost 63). Stage 1, Grade 2, ER/Pr+, HER-2 negative. Like you, I had chemothereapy because my oncotype score was high (31). What is your number? If you Google Oncotype DX, the site does a good job of explaining what the scores mean.

Good luck with your chemo. You can do it. Come here for support.

    We're all different
There are women and men here who are all the different types, stages, years of survivalship, socio/economic status and ages.

Me - I'm 65. Was DX'd at 63 in Aug 2009 with IBC (Inflammatory Breast Cancer) and 17 days after DX started chemo followed shortly by surgery, more chemo, rads and will be on Femara forever. I'm riding NED (No Evidence of Disease) - most dance with NED but I can't. NEB. Am I the same person I was before BC - no but then I wouldn't be the same person after 2 years anyway. I can do anything I want to or need to.

We are each unique - no 2 of us are the same or have the same reaction to what we have to go through.
. Ask all the questions you have but do not expect to have to deal with what any individual has, you may but you may not - there is no "one size fits all".

    Congratulations on the 8
Congratulations on the 8 grandkids and 1 great! We have two married kids but no grandkids:(
Would love to see a picture! My cancer was stage 2 triple negative so it is an aggressive cancer which is why my oncologist decided on chemo. However I will not need radiation. She said she want's to make sure there are no stray cells. Whatever it takes I guess. Talking is a tremendous help especially when those people are or have been through this darn cancer stuff. We will overcome:) Take care littlebe

Hi everyone! my computer has been down, just got up and running today.I have been feeling ok. my hair started to fall out last night in the shower. I don't really feel that bad about that! I have my wig, turbans and scarfs! I have my next chemo next Wed. and am a little anxious about that. last week my blood count was low, B/P/ was low also. pcp lowered dosage and seems to be ok.I just read some of the posts on the discussion board about things to expect and things to help with chemo, thank all of you who gave the tips! the nurse told me last week that the oncologist may give me a shot the day after my next chemo treatment, thinking that is the neulasta.
God Bless each of you and a Blessed Christmas to all! I could not face this without Our Dear Saviour guiding me and bringing me in contact with such awesome people!
