Hi! This is my first time posting. Just put up my first blog entry. I was diagnosed with bladder cancer less than a week ago, though I haven't been given much information yet. I won't get to see the doctors for another 2-3 weeks. They found a 2-3cms mass attached to my bladder wall after a painless episode of haematuria. Doc says he THINKS it is likely a very treatable form of cancer - it was definitely malignant, but that there is a remote chance that I may have a more invasive form of cancer.

I'm planning on beating this, and my biggest struggle right now seems to be cigarettes. I'm so grateful for this site. It's difficult to talk to other people about it.

Welcome Silverbirchtree:

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis, but, with that said, sounds like your mental attitude is right on. See what your doctors have to say and then take it one day at a time. You are at the beginning of this journey, and the main thing is that you have been diagnosed and things will start happening from this point on to protect your interests.

This used to be a good site to come, however it seems there are very few people that come here anymore. I post things and then realize that people never come back to read them, or it they do, perhaps it's a few months later. So, I have gotten into the habit of going to www.inspire.com and then clicking on the BCAN (Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network) link which take you to a forum of people who either have bladder cancer or are taking care of someone that has bladder cancer. I rarely come back to visit this site anymore due to the inactivity in the 'bladder cancer' area, but chose to tonight.

You will need much more information before you will know what lies ahead in your future regarding the bladder cancer, however I wish you well. I myself started my symptoms in Feb. of 2010 and was diagnosed with stage 3a bladder cancer in April. After a not so successful transuretheal resection in April, I finally had to have my bladder removed on June 30, 2010 and all is well since then.

Well, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to post some more as I will be stopping back to check on you.

Take care and God Bless,
C U,
Bill

Thanks so much for replying Bill. Later this evening I will go to the Bladder Council Advocacy Network and check it out. I don't even know what the stages are or what they mean. Sorry to hear the surgery did not go as well as you would have hoped but glad to hear things are going okay for you now.

I've had a nice day. The bleeding in my wee seems to have stopped today, for now at least. I'm going back to work tomorrow. Busy cooking dinner right now. Hope you had a good day.

Hi Silverbirchtree:

Just thought I'd give you my email address in case you would care to discuss things a bit. It is: wilsel@verizon.net

Don't hesitate to contact me as I would be happy to assist you in anyway I can. BC just happens to be an area I have personal experience in. Anyway, you take good care of yourself and I'll talk to you another time.

C U,
Bill
