Need prayers...NOW

I just had a phone call from my granddaughter, Brittany, and she has found a lump in her breast the size of a marble. She sees her doctor for an Ultra Sound next week, but she is scared to death. (She is the daughter of my daughter, Kelly, who passed in 2004, and is also the Mother of Casey Alexander, my great-grandson who died in 2009 from GERD.) She had found this lump right after Casey died, and it was the size of a pea. Her doctor hesitated to do anything then because she was pregnant again. She delivered her son, Noah in September 2010, and just stopped breast feeding. The lump became more prominant after she stopped breast feeding. I am trying to keep my spirits up, as well as encourage her until she has the ultra sound, but can't help but worry. She is only 24, and she was the closest of my grandchildren to help me while going through treatment. Unfortunately, she saw every part of what I went through, and knows what to expect. Just please keep her and her family in your prayers. I will keep you posted when the US results are given to her. My heart is heavy right now, but won't let this keep me from being positive. Thanks to you all for your support. Hugs, Judy

    Praying it is nothing
Praying it is nothing. I recently heard of a situation just like this. The doctor found a lump but told the young lady it was nothing. She was in her early 20's.Next year she went for another breast exam. The lump had grown and was cancerous. She found out she was preg so surgery and treatment had to be postponed. Finally she had surgery and treatment.Things were good for a awhile. She has another child and the cancer was back. She has surgery and treatment but after awhile she decided to stop treatment and have a good time with her children. That meant alot to her and not being sick from the treatment.

Another situation. My oncologist was treating a young mother who was 21 the same time I was dx.That young lady found her cancerous lump while breast feeding.

I can't understand why your grandaughters doctor didn't do anything.I know it MIGHT not be cancer BUT it should've been checked almost 2 years ago.

Prayers to you and your granddaugher that it isn't anything.I started getting breast tumors when I was 20.Dx with DCIS in 2009 at 62. In all those years I NEVER missed a exam or mammo but once.I made sure since my mom had bc at 21 I was going to always get my check ups.

    Brittany has my prayers!
So sorry to hear this. Very frightening. Most lumps are NOT cancer but I don't blame you for worrying. I hope we have something to celebrate soon!

Dear sister (sigh) - I have no words because it must be extremely difficult to deal with this coming from your granddaughter. UGH!!!!!!! I am staying positive for you, your family and her. I believe she will be OK. She has been added to my prayers list. And although she is so young, if she would like to hear from us, she can always come here and we will give her support and tell her she will be OK. Otherwise, please know we are thinking of you and her and praying everything turns out OK. No worries, no problems, no complications, no bad news, nothing but good news from now on.

    LOTS OF HUGS!

    Stay positive...if possible
And know that I am storming the gates of heaven with prayer for your grandaughter! As a mother and grandmother I understand your distress...my daughter, age 38, just, several months ago had her first mammo....I had a knot in my gut until until her results came back...But she had to wait 6 months after stopping breast feeding, her third child for a mammo.......she was told it takes this long for the breast to return to normal due to hormonal changes, etc... therefore your grand daughter should insist on a biopsy as a mammo may not be accurate due to the breast feeding...

I pray this is just a cyst that has enlarged due to hormonal changes from pregnancy and breast feeding...which it may very well be...
    Please let us know..we care
