Fevers

Husband was about to start chemo cycle # 7, EC is stage IV mets to nodes and liver.
He started having fevers on Monday. He had a chest xray yesterday that was all clear, WBC was 8.5 within normal range. He has no symptoms, that would cause an infection and has no pain. Still handling chemo really well. He was put on an antibiotic and to return on Monday for a CT scan.

Could these fevers have something to do with his liver?

What could the fevers be from?

What blood tests should I be watching to see how things are going?

Thanks
Jackie

    Same problem
About a month ago I landed in the hospital with 103 fever. My white count was in the toilet so that is differnet than your husbands situation. They cultured everything they could find to culture and came up with nothing. It was obvious I had an infection somewhere because I was on IV antibiotics round the clock and kept the fever up for three days. It took 6 dyas to get me in a position to come home. With chemo, I think our bodies just get in a tail spinn sometimes. The chemo is keeping me alive and in good shape so I'm not going to stop. But it was a strange occurance.Sam

    Eric, fevers are anywhere
Eric, fevers are anywhere from 101 to 102.3, they go down with Tylenol but come back.

You and my husband seem to
You and my husband seem to be handling EC somewhat the same. My husband for now actually feels better than before the chemo. If I may ask, do you have mets to the liver?

    jax568 yes
Yes I have a small spot on the liver. It was there in the beginning, the first rounds of chemo got rid of it then 6 weeks ago it sahowed up again so we changed chemo drugs and it has begun to shrink a little. I'm not expecting it to completly clear this time, but who knows. I have no spread anywhere else after 19 months of chemo. Good luck on finding source of temps. Sam

    ouch
That's kind of high for chemo. They said I was okay at 100.5 to maybe 101. Sounds like infection they will need to find and sort out before they continue chemo.
Let us know what they find out!

    Good luck,
    Eric

    Thank you for the information
Thank you for your input and the links. Yes, Dr. google has referred me to Chemocare, but I didn't notice topics on blood tests, I'll be headed to that website right after my post. My husband is HER 2 positive and has been receiving Herceptin since cycle #3.
The TheraSphere though has not been offered nor will it be. I asked the doctor and he very quickly said NO. He said they only offer that to primary liver cancer. Now being on this board I now others have had it done, so I need to research this a bit more.

As for the fevers, still no reason for them so I am just hoping they stay away. He has been fever free since this morning.

Good luck on your check up, I will keep you in my prayers and will be waiting to hear that you are still cancer free.
