Hi Ladies,

I know I have MIA for a while but I was always on the sidelines, keeping an eye
on everyone. I think everything finally took its toll on me, the moving, the working
on my house every free minute I got and my constant struggle with breathing. I
had another episode of lung, sinus etc... infections and I dropped everything and
laid back. Hence I didn't make it to Hershey's. But it wasn't the relaxing weekend
I had in my mind.

After a week of no electricity, we are back and BOY does it feel good to have a
warm cozy home. I was wearing my 5 + layers of clothing, even to bed. Yet I ended
up with a cold. We camped in the kitchen, propane stove for camping, had to break
into the garage to get the car, wait hours for gas.. exciting times I tell ya. Wow what
an eye opener on our dependancy for gas.

I came back and I see so many new names it would be nice to do our little introductions
again. So here it goes

This is my first bout with cancer, I am now 38 diagnosed 2009 stage 2 HER+ and ER/PR +
Lumpectomy, Mastectomy, 5 rounds of carbo and taxotere, Herceptin for a year.
I stopped Tamoxifen after 3 months.. too many side effect my Oncle (as I call him) agreed
with me and thinks that I do not need it. Oh and I live in the lovely state of CT.

Hugs,
Ayse

    Hello Ayse I've been missing
Hello Ayse I've been missing you!!!
I'm Heather, diagnosed last year at 34 with stage 2 IDC in right breast, had bilateral mastectomy, 6 rounds of chemo, and breast reconstructioon with expanders & then silicone gel implants.
Found out through genetic testing that I'm BRCA1+, as my mom was diagnosed 2 months after I was, also with breast cancer.
This summer I had a complete hysterectomy due to my increased risk of ovarian cancer. I'm one of those "pretty much" triple negative's, Er-, Her2-, and only slightly (1-4%) PR+ so I'm not on any hormonal type meds. I take it day by day & some are better than others but I'm doing my best!
    *hugs*

    Hi!
I'm Dana. I was diagnosed 3/15/2010 at the age of 38 with stage III IDC with lymph node involvement. I had an 8.8 cm mass in my left breast. I started with 6 rounds of chemo. I had a modified radical mast on the left and simple mast on right. 29 nodes were removed. 3 were positive and 2 more had dead cells. I then had 33 radiation treatments. I am ER + so I take tamoxifen. I started reconstruction (which was delayed because of radiation) in September. I currently have expanders in which are being filled. My radiated side is being a bit temperamental so we'll see what happens. :)

Hi all! I am 46 yo and I
Hi all! I am 46 yo and I was diagnosed with bc in June of this year, and had a right mastectomy (there were two tumors, so we opted for the mastectomy instead of a lumpectomy). Thankfully there were no lymph nodes involved. I'm going in for reconstruction in December, with a left mastectomy as well. We decided to go this route, because I don't want to have to deal with this again in twenty years! No, there's no history of bc in my family...I'm the first.
I don't know all of the other information...HER pos/neg?..ER/PR?...etc. My Onc. says I don't have to do anything but Tamoxifen for the next four years and nine months. I've only experienced a few hot flashes, but the memory fog is crazy!!
Good luck Ayse! I live in North Florida - couldn't handle that cold stuff again!
    Hugs to you all!

    Hi all:

I am a 48 yo wife, mother, and grams to 1 little guy whose little sister will be born in January. I work full time as an office manager of a small medical lab in the midwest.

I was diagnosed 11/1/10 with IDC stage 3c, er+, pr-, her- in my left breast. Left mastectomy no reconstruction, 4 epirubicin/cytoxan, 4 taxol @ 3 weeks apart. 33 rads, now Tamoxifen. Surgery was 11/5/10, last rads 07/08/11.

I am the family history for both BC and rheumatoid arthritis, lucky me, LOL. I have told my family someone else gets to do the next thing.

  • I wondered about your lack of postings
    Dear Ayse,

I did notice that you were not posting much since your move out east. I am glad to hear from you.

I don't know which is worse. Not having power at the height of a hot summer or not having power in the snowy winter...though according to the calendar, we are still in Fall, not Winter. I will answer my own question. It has to be winter...lots of snow and no power.

Try this and let me know how it works for you. In the morning squeeze 1 TB of fresh lemon juice and drink it. Following the lemon juice, measure 1 TB of honey, and eat it carefully...little tastings until it is gone. For a fact I know that this helps cure a cold that has settled in the lungs. In your case, maybe it would prevent problems in your lung. Give it a try. The lemon juice and honey cannot hurt you.

Now, to the newbies. I am Janelle, age 70. At 65, I was diagnosed with 0 Stage DCIS. Opted for contralateral mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction. Lymph nodes were free of cancer. No further treatment needed. Three years later diagnosed with Invasive Carcinoma on the scar of what was my cancerous breast. Had 32 days of radiation. Tried Arimidex, Anastrozole, and Femara but stopped taking them because of varying side effects. Still trying to be totally free of one side effect to the knee. Other than that, doing great!!!

    Lots of Hugs,
    Janelle

    Janelle, I saw some where
Janelle, I saw some where else where you had posted about cancer at the scar. When I had my radiation, the last few were a "boost" to the scar area. Is it common for it to come back to that area? Is that what the boost was about? (I'm trying your lemon honey too because I've been trying to get rid of one! UGH!)

Ayse, it's good to have you
Ayse, it's good to have you back. But the cold house and the cold in your chest...yuk! Here's something else for you to try for a cough...before bed put some vicks vaporub on the soles of your feet, put on some old warm socks, then go to sleep. When I first heard about this I thought no way would that work, but I tried it the next time my kids had a cough and away it went.

I'm Linda. My original dx was in Aug of 2010, triple negative IBC. I did 6 rounds of TAC chemo, a bilateral mastectomy in Jan 2011, 12 of 14 positive nodes, then 44 rounds of rads twice a day for 22 days. In Aug of this year found a recurrence at the mastectomy scar, and two lymph nodes between my lungs tested positive. Did a re-excision surgery in Sept, and back on chemo (Xeloda, two weeks on, one week off).

I have a wonderful supportive hubby, and two kids. Gabe is 15 now, and Abby is 10. And I work as a bank manager.

    Hugs,

    Introduction
I was diagnosed October 2010 at 47 with stage 2 IDC. ER + and PR +, Her2 -. I did chemo first (4 AC and 12 taxol), then bilateral mastectomy followed by radiation (30).
My mammogram did not spot any of the 3 masses in my right breast.

It has been a crazy year. I have a very helpful, supportive family so I was lucky!

    Ayse, how's the man?
    Inquiring minds and all . . .

I'm Suzanne, age 64 (how that THAT happen?), Dx in April 2010 with IDC Stage 1, grade 2, oncotype 31, ER+PR+, HER-2 neg, AND endometrial cancer Stage 1A, grade 1. My sequence of events has been: lumpectomy May 2010; hysterectomy and BSO July 2010; Taxotere and Cytoxin chemotherapy for breast cancer July-September 2010; radiation of right breast November, 2010. Arimidex since Dec 2010 - no side effects. No adjuvant therapy needed for endometrial cancer (whew) just pelvic and Pap smear every 4 months.

Doing great, fully recovered from the dreaded chemo, involved in a whole lot of volunteer work in the cancer community, working probably too much and not spending enough time with the grandkids. Mostly counting my blessings and you all are amongst them.

did not envy your position out east
We get enough snow in Michigan.

I am 55 years old and was diagnosed in late Feb of 2011. I HAD triple negative breast cancer at stage 2. I had 2 out of 14 nodes positive for cancer when they did the lumpectomy. I say had because I forbid it to recurr. I have actually had an easy time through treatment (even through chemo). I am beginning to feel much like before cancer. I have about 8-10 radiation treatments left and then I am done with cancer, but not with this site. Neener neener neener. You all are stuck with me.

    Hi everyone,

I am not very good about posting here, as I just get busy with my motherly responsibilities. I have 5 kids and one with special needs so I am a busy mom but I love my stay-at-home job. I was diagnosed in early Feb and thankfully am done with chemo and radiation. I am scheduled to start Tamoxifen today (but am chicken and haven't taken the first pill:)). My energy is coming back and I am starting to feel great again. Like laughs_a_lot I am glad to say "had" and be done with this bump in my life.

Wishing you all the best health!

Hi Pinks, I've been really bad about posting lately but I'm working on it. I was DX on August 18th 2009 at age 37 with Stage IIIC IDC triple negative, 15 chemos (4A/C and 11Taxol) Bilateral mastectomy, both ovaries, immediate reconstruction using latissimus flap (7 hour operation with 3 surgeons) 35 rounds of radiation. January 2011 DX Stage IV with mets to spine and hip, Xeloda for 5 months, it didn't work, mets grew and spread. June 2011 started Carboplatin/Gemzar and am currently receiving the Gemzar. I'm from South Dakota and still live in this cold crazy state. I'm currently looking into MD Anderson for a second opinion. Welcome to all the new people and hello to all the members I've been out of touch with. I'll do my best to keep updated and give as much support and experience as I can to everyone who is battling this beast. Hang tough and keep your chin up it's a roller coaster ride but with all the great people on here, it's one you can do and know YOU'RE NOT ALONE.

Haven't posted much in the past 10 days - site problems
I was diagnosed July 2010, at the age of 55, with stage 2 IDC. Chemo first (4 A/C, 4 Taxotere) then right mastectomy with 9 nodes removed (3 showed involvement), and 33 rads. E+, others neg. Currently awaiting reconstruction. On Femara and Fosomax and vitamins and fiber. Currently doing well and praying to stay that way.
