The leading integrative hospital in sydney is adding a tcm practioneer to the services cancer patients have access too, how fantastic and reassuring is that.

now i know what the onc and surgeons think of anything lacking a double blind clinical trial but nethertheless this is a miracle. i won't name the hospital, i don't want to jinx it. i hope the implementation goes well and cancer patients benefit like i believe i have.

one small step for man a huge leap for cancer patients in my honest opinion. well at least those cancer patients who are willing to take a calculated risk.

last night the same center had an amazing bowel cancer seminar with q and a from the panel with top onc and surgeons , refexologist, nutrictionist. I keep on learning, the detailed description of specific surgical techniques was well done.

the role of insulin in promoting rapid cell growth in the large intestine was also new to me and how the structure of the large bowel has pockets where toxins collect to cause cancer. they were not as passionate about walking and vit d, until double blind clinical trial specific anticancer advice but they still supported they are good for health in general.
my question about lifestyle interventions was the first and they took about 10 minutes to answer. i am on the video, yippee!!

the surgeon backed up the collagen mesh for hernias that i had done as well as the 3 month wait between chemo/rad and surgery. he also mentioned 20% of rectal tumours that have complete response like mine are candidates for no surgery, but its very difficult to assess if the response is complete until the tumour is cut out under and examined post op under the microscope.

just wanted to share the knowledge i am gaining everyday in the healing journey. if i have to go under the knife, i know who i will be having a second opinion from but my surgeon is still number one.

hugs,
pete

I wish saint vincents where i go could have a bowel cancer support group and a cancer center like where i go for support my hospital fails to deliver.

    Thanks Pete
It's good to hear when mainstream cancer centers explore alternative therapies. Hopefully there will be some data instead of the "a friend of a friend of my sisters brother-in-law's second cousin twice removed took herbs and cured their cancer but I don't recall what type of cancer she had or what herbs she took..." type stories that are too often the facts that many people have to make major decisions with.
    Thanks for sharing this...

the onc stressed how unique you and i and some of our friends here are!!!!!
this was just with respect conventional treatments. remember the 12 colorectal surgeons asked for an opinion about hernia. well guess what 14 different answers.

now lets throw in alternative and complementary therapies.

now lets throw in the fact we get treated in different hospitals in different regions, differnet cities, different states, different countries.

now lets throw in different times.

oh yes and lets not forget the main star Mr CRC he is also unique as we are!!!

So did some wise person once say ?

    "not one size fits all"

it does not matter who said it, but that the message and reasoning is clearly understood.

it does imply for me that i have to drive my treatment. many aspects of my care have been
state of the art. i am happy with that. I know my approach is mine and certainly not most peoples.

    hugs,
    pete

    Yes!
As my Mom always told me, "remember you're unique, just like everyone else!" ;-)
We all have this cancer in common too. One size does not fit all as far as beating this goes but a good attitude never killed anyone (that I know of at least!)
