I finished my procedure and was there a good bit of the day. The doc said he didn't see any signs of cancer but they took some biopsies to be tested. He did see a good bit of inflammation. All in all, a good procedure. UPMC, as always, treated me so incredibly. This really is one of the best places to be treated.

    Good News!
When searching for cancer...those folks know what to look for. I am optomistic that the biopsy's will come back with more good news.
Did the inflammation you spoke about cause any problems swallowing? Have you had any dilations since surgery? I wish you the best.

I had not had any problems
I had not had any problems eating or swallowing at all which is why I was so surprised to learn of the irritation. I talked to the doctor and he wasn't too concerned and told me to be sure to follow my dietary restrictions.

They didn't get a biopsy of
They didn't get a biopsy of the one node that we're most concerned about but we're going to monitor it. Not the completely clean bill of health that I had hoped for but it's the best I'm going to get so I'm not going to try to think too far ahead of it. My hope at this point is that it would have been too soon for a recurrance to have shown up since I am only 4 months post-op and I've been on chemo for 2 of those months. Hope and a lot of prayers. ;)
