My teen daughter is studying psycology in college-I am her guinea pigs at times..OTHER NIGHT she asked me if I ever have or had flash backs of radiation?
I told her NO I have never had any...to me it was not stressful at all..I had great group of medical staff...greeted me by name daily...sweet and caring...

    Flashbacks? Oh, No!
I HOPE I don't have flashbacks. Radiation has been a decidedly unpleasant experience for me. Tomorrow is my last treatment, and I am fantasizing about which large bottle I will take with me -- and I don't mean liquor! I just can't wait until I am ALLOWED to treat my burns!

    Congrats on finishing
    Congrats on finishing Mollie!
The burns will continue for several days after so don't be surprised. They do heal up fairly quickly after that though.

As to flash backs, I haven't had any!

    Congrats...
to your daughter on choosing to improve herself and her life via college studies. I am also a psychology/sociology alumni, and the things I learned in my college days have been a valuable tool throughout my lifetime.
As for falshbacks...no, I did not experience those, but I did, and still do, (25 years later) have mental blocks of that time in my life. I was diagnosed with cancer in 1986, 1988, and 1996. (I am fine now, thank you.) I was in treatment or post-treatment (medications) for 15 years straight. The process, with all its ups and downs, frights and flights, and episodes of depression, was so overwhelming at times that my finite brain just could (or would) not contain it all, so I simply 'forgot' some of it. All these years later, once in awhile, I will suddenly 'recall' a particularly unsettling day or event which I encountered during the process which I had no memory of until now.
The human mind is a marvelous thing and is often 'selective' in what it stores in our 'attic rooms' out of the way until we are better equipped to deal with that moment in our past. Our professors call it 'repression'....I call it a blessing. :)
    God bless.

terrible flashbacks for 2 1/2 yrs..but no due to cancer
I took care of elderly woman (family out of state) for years---ONE day I knew something was wrong and just walked in her house..found her after having brain aneurysm! MIND you I do NOT DO BLOOD at all..I pass out in Dr office having few stitches taken our of my finger...SO THIS had very bad impact on me!

BUT I TOTALLY understand how / why your mind can and does flash back at times..
