New, Surgery next week for 10cm complex mass

Hi everyone, I am due to have surgery next week for a large complex ovarian mass and I am a bit nervous as I have previously had cervical cancer. the mass was found during a hospital stay for Chron's disease, the doctor mentioned in passing that they found an ovarian cyst during an MRI but neglected to mention that it was over 10cm so if I had not followed up with my OBGYN I would have never known it was so large, well after I went to the OBGYN he immediately sent me to an OBGYN oncologist who wants to remove this asap but didnt give me alot of info other than it being complex. So my question to all of you wonderfully strong supportive women is can this still be ca if my ca125 was only 29? and how long was your hospital stay after your laparotomy, my doctors are all kind of tight lipped and have not given me alot of info? I also have some tumors in my forearm that are causing me a great deal of pain and have yet to be diagnosed as they are waiting for my mass to be diagnosed to see if it is a primary? I have only been having symptoms for about 2 mos. and any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Love and Respect,
Carol

As Anne mentioned, I also won't be much help to answer your specific questions. But it sounds as though they are on the right track to getting to the bottom of this. Thank God you went to see your physician - they should have given you ALL the details. Anyway, sending lots of prayers and hugs to you. Please keep us informed, okay?

    To answer your question: can
To answer your question: can it be cancer with a normal CA-125? The answer is "yes"--so I hope your surgery is being done by a gyn/onc rather than your regular gyn doctor. The gyn/onc surgeon is the expert in finding if there is any cancer hidden in your abdomen/pelvis.

I'm hoping you come back & tell us that it was nothing more than a complex cyst.

hi Anne, I just want to say Thank You! I think prayer is a most powerful thing and we can all use as much as we can get and know that it goes both ways, I am praying that it's not ca but also terrified as I have a strong family history on both sides and a previous case of cervical with extisive fibroids. But whether or not it is I am going to remain active here and keep praying for each and every one.

My Aunt who lives in Fl is having a major fight with multiple myeloma right now and I feel like I need to be active in the fight to help others regardless of my outcome and want to tell all of you that you are truly amazing.

    The great Physician!
    Hi Monica,

I am trying to listen to my body as I think we each know our bodies better than any doctor, I am thankfully back with the obgyn oncologist that treated my cervical cancer and fibroids and when I go next week hopefully she will give me more details! But right now I am relying on the Great Physician! And all of the prayers that everyone is sending. Thank you and know I will be praying for you as well.

    Love and respect,

    Me too!
    Hi Carolenk,

I do have an obgyn oncologist, the same one that cared for my cervical, and feel very lucky might I add to have had a regular obgyn that sent me to her as soon as he got the ultrasound reports, they did several diff. types but are still not saying much in the way of details, it is kinda scary because of the rush they are in to get it out of me, and now the tumors that are in my arm that are extremely painful are being ignored until this is resolved. Lord I sound like a basket case huh! Hehehe!

Any way I just want to say thank you and I will be praying for everyone of you.

    Love and respect,
    Carol

    I love your baby!
    Hi Poopergir,

I love your little baby, boy or girl?, I know most of us are not able to have children anymore so I know for me my pets are my babies.
Thank you for your reply, I had a bikini cut during my initial cervical ca case and was in for about a week, my Doc says she will have to cut from above my belly button to my pelvic bone and across like a c-section is a laparotomy the correct term? I know she said she would not be able to do the scope? to get it out as it is too large and she won't risk rupture as it is mostly solid with fluid filled pockets and is the size of a newborns head.
I still can't believe that I did know it was there, guess I blame all of my discomfort on my Chron's disease as It keeps me miserable a lot of the time anyway.
Thank you so much for the support and paryer, I will be returning it! And any more info that any of you can give is greatly appreciated!

    Love and respect ,

    Dear Carol,
welcome to the board! You are so bautiful! And you look very young! I hope this complex cyst is benign, and you don't need to even come back here. It seems we are all unique and that includes our cancer too.
Wishing you the best with your surgery next week,
    Hugs and prayers,
    Kathleen

Thank you Carol for your support and the want to be active in helping others fight cancer. I don't want to scare you but my CA125 was a 7 and I had 4 different primary cancers happening in my body at the sametime.. I can not use the CA125 test as any kind of cancer marker which kind of scares me. I will be praying that your surgery goes well and that you heal fast. Hugs Sharon

    ca125
    Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your input about the ca125, all of my blood work always comes back normal and it makes me feel like all of this is all in my head even though I know it is not.
I am still waiting to get my sugery date and the longer it takes the more nervous I get, I am having to pay for cobra ins. As my husband was recently laid off and is not eligible for ins. with his new employer yet!!!! Ugh! You know what they say, "when it rains it pours".

    Love,
    Carol

    Hi Ladies,

Thank you all so much for your support, I am still waiting to get my surgery date, I think my doctor is super busy right now but the waiting is killing me! I think everyone here knows this feeling whether it is waiting for results or your next check up. Anyway I will keep you all posted and I will be here to help support all of you regardless of the outcome of my surgery, I have many family members who are and who have fought this battle with various types of ca and want to be a part of helping others.

    Love,
    Carol

P.S. Thank you for the compliments! ; )
