I have heard the movie is
I have heard the movie is good too~but no matter what, I already know I won't go see it. I am such an Ostrich when it comes to cancer~ I think about it enough in my everyday life that I just can't spend money to watch anyone elses' cancer~ real or imagined! I think it is Martina McBride who has a song about BC...it is very popular, but it also isn't anything I would ever listen to! As soon as people started saying it made them bawl~ nope! Count me out! LOL

I saw the cast on TV last week and wondered if it showed some of the things we often discuss here - the emotional stuff and some of the stupid comments we get and how it effects us. You know, something that might educate the peeps on the outside and the big picture, not just the medical stuff.

    Did it?

    I saw it today.
I had heard the two of them on NPR and they were saying how they dealt with his cancer with humor and wanted to make a movie that wasn't so sad.

Seth Grogan who stars as the friend of the guy with cancer, plays himself. He was really the best friend. I can't remember the name of the other guy, sorry. But he hired an actor to play his part.

It is true and he lives so it isn't a sad ending. They did a great job showing a lot of the real life reactions from friends and family as well as what you go through in treatment.

One poignant part was they never really discussed it in any detail. They joked, he shaved his head and tried to use his cancer to get a girlfriend after his real girlfrien cheated on him when she promised to stand by him. Angelica Houston plays his mom and does a good job of showing what a mothers' reaction looks like.

I enjoyed it and you do laugh and you do cry just a little but not terribly sad. I wanted to see it because of the way they tried to make it different from other movies on the subject.

    Yes!
It did show the off-beat comments that people say and his different feelings that we have all experienced.
He showed every emotion to the audience as it happened to him in each stage.

Not sure whether I will go
Not sure whether I will go and see the movie. The one I would rather see for the laughs is "The Bridesmaids." I hear that one will having you bending over in laughter. What are your thoughts on the movie? How did you like it?

Bridesmaids was so funny, some potty humor, but I was laughing so hard! I had no idea when I went to see it what I was even going to.

I am split on the 50/50. When I go to a movie it is to escape, so I don't know either.

My friend and I are going to
My friend and I are going to see that, hopefully this week some time. I ADORE Seth Rogen and can't wait to see how their friendship is portrayed, how they deal with his friend's diagnosis and treatment.
    *hugs*
    Heather -
ps - and Chen - I will not listen to that breast cancer song either. Im not doing the ostrich thing, i just don't like country music, or things that I know will make me cry. ;)

    Hey Heather
Why don't you drag N along with you when you go see the movie. Maybe she'll learn a thing or two. Or not:)

I think I might see this
I think I might see this movie. At first, I didn't want to see it. Not sure how the c was been portrait in this film (since it's a "comedy"). But if you guys recommend, then I'll go see.

    Bridesmaids
is really good! Lots of laughs!

Haven't seen 50/50 yet, but based on the previews and what I've read here, I'm sure I'll see it. If it can make me laugh, it's worth it. I'd rather laugh than cry!

    Heather:
my kids say I listen to too many sad songs...Dancing with my father etc...

what song you are talking about? I am not downer but many songs mean things to me..I rarely car other then in my car alone so at times it's my soft spot to listen and weep.
