And now, for some GOOD news....

The NOCC selected 9 of the quilt squares for a wall hanging that will be permanently displayed in their headquarters in Dallas, along with a copy of the "book of stories" that was raffled off with the Ovarian Cancer quilt.

Four of the squares were ours:
Joan Jack
Mary Klein
Bonnie Lemke
Leesa Green

I am so pleased about this. It was the only bright spot of the whole day.

The "silver lining" on a dark cloud
Glad to hear your efforts were rewarded in some way. In the future, we could do our own raffle--we don't need NOCC for that!

The wall hanging will be on
The wall hanging will be on permanent display at the NOCC headquarters in Dallas, along with a copy of all the personal stories and memorials that were included in the book that was raffled off with the Ovarian Cancer quilt. After the NOCC fiasco, when they gave away the OC quilt via tickets sold for another prize altogether, they offered me this wall hanging (probably to shut me up). I declined. As angry as I am at the people who were responsible for not righting the wrong that was done at Saturday's 5K, I knew how much it would mean to you, Mary and Leesa, and to the families of Bonnie and Joan, to know that your square will be seen by many people, every day, for years to come, and your stories will give courage and inspiration to every woman who sees it. That really was part of what hurt the most.....the feeling I got that the NOCC Director implied that I wanted "something for nothing." NONE of this was about me "wanting" anything, except fair play. Wyler's sent me a message about how sorry they were that it happened and asked for my contact info, so they could send me "something to brighten your day." I declined their offer, as well (but with gratitude).

    Carlene,For whatever
    Carlene,

For whatever reason, I've been very weepy lately. As I read your posts here, I definitely overflowed! Thank you so much for creating such a meaningful square for me, and I can't tell you how much your friendship and that of the other ladies means to me!

This is going to be a short post, because I'm crying again (happy tears). I'll post again next week with an update on my latest tests. Blood and MRI Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Med/onc Thursday and Rad/Onc the following Tuesday.

Dammit, I want Dr. House to give me a second opinion. *sigh*

    Love you all!

    Leesa
