Well, I am still dealing with clogged ears. It's been almost exactly two months. What a PITA. Anyway.... I saw the doctor (probably resident) who was working with the doctor today. He could see the fluid in my ears still and he can back with the main dr dude and we chatted. I told him about my history and concerns. He asked if I minded if he did another scope. I said no, I didn't mind, it would actually make me feel better if he did. So, up the left nostril-a-roo we went. They both took turns looking and didn't see anything, so that was good.

Then they talked to me about the ear tubes. I guess I am getting them put in on Wednesday. In office numbing drops in ears. Hope they have something to keep my head still while they are doing this. Yes, I'm a twit. You would think, with everything I've been through, I wouldn't be such a whimp. I am looking forward to feeling better. Although I may just let my gram believe I'm still deaf. What? What?! Is that bad people? Lol. You have no idea what I have to put up with seriously. :D

After that appointment, I ran (literally. The ear dude made me late) to my next appointment in radiation oncology with my dr who did my rads. He didn't scope me, cause I just had it done 5 minutes before. He did give me a good oral exam and neck, so that was good. He said my tongue looked a 'little' better than it did last time, but noted, once again, how dry my mouth is. He was at least nice this time and wet the tongue depressor this time. Stuck to my tongue last time. Anyway, he was thrilled with my weight, 115 lbs. He said he is really happy with where I am at today, considering how awful I was just two years ago. He said my thyroid was still ok. So, six month return for him. He still doesn't want a pet or CT scan, going with another chest X-ray and thyroid test.

A good day. :) Now who wants to come Wednesday with me and hold my whimpy hand?

    I will
I do, I do, oops, I go to radiation that day so I can't. I hope they don't make the comment that I hate to hear, "It won't be worse than the dentist!" I'm glad that things are finally moving for the ear, I can't believe it takes so long for us to get treatment.
You can do it sister from a different mister, you are a tough cookie (even though we crumble momentarily). Hopefully someone will be able to go witth you.

By the way, my mom didn't have a hearing problem, we had a speaking problem!

    Ear tubes

Sorry Sweet but it will only take 5 mins for the doctors to get both ear tubes put in. They will knock you out or sometimes give you a mild sedative and before you know it you are draining and wondering where all that fluid is coming from. Glad to hear the good report for the oncal man and to hear you are putting on some weight.

Keep up the fight girl and keep doing well

Yep, lol. I hate the dentist too. The last time I was there, when he gave me the shot to numb my mouth, that sucker hurt so bad, that it's a good thing the head rest was there, I was trying to pull away, It is a wonder my head didn't embed into the chair.

I suppose gram and I have a speaking problem. Well, it's a communication problem in general, when trying to converse or deal with her these days. I get the brunt of it, because I live with her. Everyone else just ignores it, or runs away.

You hang in there. Been in my prayers for sure.

    Nope, no sedation, or
Nope, no sedation, or anything. He said they just put numbing drops in your ear, which sting and burn at first, but then it gets numb. They make incisions, suck the fluid out, and stick in the tubes.

    Thinking of you
    Sweet,

I can't believe how long it took to get anything done about your ears. I was wondering two days ago if your problem had resolved. I would play the deaf card awhile longer; been there. I will be praying for peace and comfort on Wednesday for you.

    Blessings

You are tougher than I am!
They would have to strap me down and I would still probably break the straps and bounce off the walls. LOL

    Well oh

I guess my old ENT liked to change more as he would put me under to put the tubs in, glad I got rid of him, I like my new ENT she is more of a people person to me.

It will be nice to hear again.

    Eeew tube.
I watched a show on the Style network. It's called, How do I look? They do make overs on women who really dress very inappropriately. They had this woman on the other night, she was my age, a tad younger. She looked like she stepped right out of the 80's. She never stopped dressing the way we dressed as kids. She was like the epitome of the woman in Bowling For Soup's 1985. Anyway, they go through all their offending clothing. It is always dire stuff. The host takes the offending clothing and it gets sucked up into, "The Ew Tube". It is like a bank drive through tube. Lol.

    The deaf card.
Well, at least when I can hear again, I can just go back to what I used to do. I either have my iPhone or iPod on when I go out there, and shove the earbuds in there. Good tunes, et voila! Peace.

    Thank you Stacey. :)

    Strap me down.
I could tell them I have a mask they can bolt me down with, but they would have to make ear holes. Lol

I still need to use that thing for target practice, and then burn that sucker.

Wow....my ENT knocks out all his patients for ear tubes. He also chooses to run the scope up the nose at that time for me as it is very uncomfortable.

Hope everything goes well. Please keep us posted!

Well, I am thinking it might
Well, I am thinking it might be a good thing that they aren't knocking me out since I cannot find any one to go with me. :(

Also, I guess because I have issues with anesthesia, and they had trouble with me once, they want to shove that tube down my throat while I'm awake, which honestly was/is traumatic for me. The numbing spray, burns my mouth so badly at first. Then they try and get that guard or plastic thing in, and my mouth isn't wide enough, and it really hurts....yadda yadda yadda. It freaks me out. That's why I don't want to have a fourth dilation.

The scope doesn't bother or hurt me. I don't mind it that much at all. I just gag though.

    Anesthesia

Sweet you are more of a Woman then I am, thanks goodness for that ( lol ). Just don’t think I could do it without the anesthesia, I am a chicken when it comes to things like that. I make my caretaker wife hold my hand while I close my eyes.

Wishing you the best of hearing again

Don't count me as brave yet.
Don't count me as brave yet. I haven't actually done it yet, and I am scared. I wish I had someone to go with me. I would like someone to be there with me to hand hold. Sometimes it really sucks being alone.

Dang, Sweet. If I was close by, I would be proud to go with you for support. It has been my great fortune to have an extremely supportive wife with me for all of this scary stuff. And, there is a lot more scary stuff coming up for me. I am happy to hear (pun intended) that you are doing better and hopefully they can get your ears working better again. Your strength and sense of humor continue to be a source of strength for me. Good luck on the appointment, tough girl.....You can do it.
