Frustrated

We had a private insurance for six months after diagnoses but then would have had to pay 2000 a month for major medical so I applied for our state insurance and got it with only a 176.00 premium per month but I can sure tell the difference, it's been 2 weeks since the doc ordered some tests and we are just getting them scheduled now. I know we are on a welfare type of insurance but I just don't have any other do-able options at this time. We qualified for the state insurance by 4% which means that if I work, we will no longer quailfy. I am feeling a little damned if I do and damned if I don't. I took a real emotional beating from my teenage daughter yesterday for not having the money for her cross country fees. I don't know what else to do but cry. I don't want my husband to know how I feel, I want his mind on good things and focusing on fighting this but I know he knows I am struggling. I just have to get up every day and paste that smile on my face and keep leaning on GOD. I visited a food pantry last week, that really helped my self esteem.
Please don't think I am ungrateful, I would just rather be giving the food than taking it. I buy milk when I can, before I bought it when I needed it. I am not sure how we will mkae it but I am sure we will by the grace of GOD. This disease sure puts you through it. ;)

    Insurance and Care Programs
    Brenda,
We all work hard and pay taxes but no one asks for cancer. The insurance and care programs are there when you need them. I hear you and it sounds like your pride is hurt but remember this is for your family. Please use the programs and insurance for they were intended for people who need them. My heart hurts when I encounter people who are struggling to fight cancer and have no insurance. Please know that at another time your family may be able to give back. I am a teacher who is working with our Teacher Retired Association to lobby for health insurance and more aid for education for our students. At our school athletic fees were set to reduce costs but there were monies built in to make sure all students could participate even if they did not have the monies for the athletic fees. Please check with her school. Many people donated to make sure all kids had access to participate. Prayers for you and your family.

    Hi Brenda,

Your post makes my heart ache- I am so sorry for the financial stress you're experiencing. Yes, health insurance can be outrageously expensive. We are paying $909 a month just for me and on a separate insurance policy, we're paying $1100 for my husband and three kids. It is quite draining, but we are fortunate enough to be doing okay.

I wish I had more ideas and help for you to make money. I know, with my disability, I couldn't work full time, but there is an amount I can still earn and still would qualify to get the benefit. I'm wondering if there's some kind of rule like that with the benefit you're getting. Please check into it some more.

For now, I guess I would like to just let you know that I would like to pray for you and for your situation for your whole family. I will be doing that.

Take care & I believe the Lord has you in his hands-

    Thank you all for your
Thank you all for your replies, I was feeling a little dark yesterday. I fell a sleep praying for us all last night and thank you for your prayers.
When I applied for the state insurance we quallified by being just 4% under the income guidlines. I am a little afraid of playing any where near that line. I am making calls today to see if I can find some cash work, I don't want to be dishonest about income but how can I really sit by while we need so much. I called the school system this morning and they will waive the normal school fees but not the extra curricular fees (sports), I guess sports are for the financially stable. lol So, I have something to be thankful for, I won't have the normal fees piling up on me. I will do my best to pay for the other fees as I can. I should not let the little things sweat me, there is so many other things to be concerned about, not to mention the things to be grateful for. I am in awe of this group and I thank GOD for you.
