Crazy rash? infection? on breast

So I am 3 months out of rads and now I have some crazy rash on that breast. When I went to the gyno 3 weeks ago and she gave me my breast exam she asked if I was doing anything for under my breast. I didn't know there was anything wrong under there! So I went home and started using the nystatin cream and powder that I used during rads. Well, that little spot has turned into the whole underneath about 2 inches worth, my whole breast and is traveling to the other. My daughter made me go to my rads onco because she said and I quote "your boob is going to fall off!" I went 2 days ago and he thinks it's a yeast infection and prescribed me fluconozol once a day for 2 weeks. If I'm not better in a week I have to go see him again. He says if this doesn't work he may have to give me intravenous meds! I am itching like crazy!! He told NOT to put anything on it especially cortisone because it could make it worse. Has anyone else experienced this? It doesn't look any better after the 3rd pill. I thought I was done and on my way but I guess not. I walk around with my hand in my shirt itching all day. What a sight I am!!

    Yes, I had the same thing. I took fluconozol for 2 weeks and didn't help. I had a fungal cream I was to use twice a day that didn't work. What did work was ciclopirox cream twice a day. and drinking green tea twice a day. I found using just the creme it would clear up and when I stopped using it appear again. But when I started drinking the tea also it would clear up with the cream and I haven't used it for months. I don't know if it would work the same for you but if what you are using doesn't work you might ask the doctor.

    I have a dog that looks just like yours! :>)

    The fungal cream

    @Marcia527

    The fungal cream didn't work for me either! I think it's actually getting worse! If it's not any better by friday I have to go back to him! I will mention the cream to him. I hate green tea though

    That was my Sandi. She died almost 2 years ago from mouth cancer. She was the best. She loved everyone especially kids. Going through all this cancer stuff made me miss her even more. Take care of your doggie's teeth no matter if the vet says they are fine. If I had just fought and had her teeth cleaned she may still be here today.

    Thanks for the help : )

    I had the rash starting in
    I had the rash starting in 2005 until this year, Nothing seemed to help except for the cream I told you about. I'd tried several but the one that works is instant relief. I put it on and said "AH!"

    My dogs teeth are dark but the vet didn't say anything. She had one tooth pulled cause it cracked. We named our dog Dusty but people who don't know call her Sandy. She is 11 years old. How would cleaning the teeth keep her from getting cancer? You shouldn't blame yourself. Sometimes stuff just happens.

    I have been having issues on the bra line. I am using an antifungal powder, and trying to go without a bra. It needs to be dry i think so the cream might make it too moist. when my kids had yeast/diaper rashes. i used to put the ointment on and in between applications apply cornstarch. My friend who is a skin care nurse told me to try the powder and also said she was advised by a doctor to apply antiperspirant under her breasts and it worked. She however has not had rads etc... but just thought I would put it out here.

    When doing research on my dogs cancer it says that the bacteria from the teeth get into the gumline causing an infection. That infection can then turn into a cancerous growth. All that happened. She had bad breath for a long time and they thought it was from her anal glands being backed up. Apparently it was from the cancer growing. While cleaning her teeth may not have stopped her from getting cancer it certainly aided in the quick growth of it. From diagnosis, 2 surgeries till her death was 6 months!

    You've had this rash this long?! I mean my whole boob is covered and I itch like crazy! How can you deal with it for this long?!

    @carkris,
    I had issues on the bra line during rads too. I used the powder alone also and that didn't work. I even used foot fungus cream that helped for that. NOW this is my entire breast and an inch to 2 inches under it from my cleavage to my ribs. And it's hot to the touch! I slept with ice packs on last night to take the heat away which helped with the itch. It's not a heatrash or that sweatrash you get either.I used the antiperspirant under there before I was dx. It's weird. Leave it to me to get something weird!! My rads doc said if the pills don't work he may have to give me intravenous meds. Keep your fingers crossed I don't need that.

    I just had it under where
    I just had it under where skin touches skin. The second PCP I saw prescribed ciclopirox cream and it cured it for a while but would return. we moved and I saw a dermatologist who prescribed something else and finally I told her nothing was working but the ciclopirox cream and she prescribed it. It would only cure it for awhile and it would return. If you keep watch and catch it before it gets bad it's not so painful. Plus the cream keeps it from itching. So I keep watch. If yours is the whole breast it might not be the same thing. But you mentioned yeast infection and that is what the dermatologist called mine. She took skin cells and tested them. I know what it feels like and I was a mad woman (crazy) when I told the dermatologist "I need, I need!" Quote from movie What about Bob. Now I keep some on hand so at the first sign of return I start with the cream. I haven't had to use the cream since Feb. so I think it might finally be gone.

    Sorry about your dog. Ours is like one of our children.

    @ginnyl I looked it up and it doesn't look like that. There is no swelling, no pain, just rashlike look and itch. I just finished rads 3 months ago and the doctor I went to is my rads oncologist. Let's hope it is just a fungus infection please : ) He thinks the breast got the rash from inflammation of the underneath. If it's no better by sunday I will be back in his office on monday and will suggest what you said. always better to be safe than sorry later!

    @sue, i had that rash too. It's been 3 months since I finished rads, so this is something new. It almost looks like the same rash except it's spreading even to my other breast. I'm hoping the meds will work because I've had enough of rashes for awhile! My rads onc thinks it's a fungus or a yeast infection. Thanks for the well wishes!

    @denise No! I have shown my boob to enough people. It's not a skin problem. My rads doc said it happens sometimes after treatment is over and the body rebels. I don't think it ever truly went away after rads. I think it was hiding out under there just waiting to annoy me later on. If you could see what this looks like~ It's a very large space and not something that normally happens on the skin. I've had plenty of rashes in my day! My sister sucked in her breath when I just showed it to her. It is most likely related to treatment. I just want it gone....

    Crazy rash
    I am getting rads currently and developed an itchy rash over my port. I have a couple of other spots on my neck. I was told to put antibiotic cream on it, but it makes it itch more. Nobody seems to think that it is related to the rad treatment, but I do. Today I feel like I am a crispy critter on my rad side and an itchy critter on the other. I am so ready to be done with rads. Oh, also had CT scans and a bone scan today. Have to wait until after the weekend to get the results. Cross your fingers!!!!!!

    Desitin
    Your mention of diaper rash reminded me that I have used Desitin for relief for similar rashes, both on my kids when they were babies and on myself when I get those "crease" rashes. Dry the area really well, and slather on Desitin "like icing on a cake," to quote my pediatrician. It does get all over your clothes, so wear something you can wash with really hot water. It won't necessarily cure a bad yeast infection; your prescription will help with that; but it does feel better right away and keeps it from hurting. I can make a rash go away with just Desitin, if I catch it early.
