Checking In

Hi all:

Made it thru mine and Charlie's birthday which was the 27th (remember we had the same birthday) It was rough at times but all in all was a good day. Went to bible study and they sang to me; then went to Build-A-Bear at the mall and made a Sammy dog (dachshund) and the girl there was talking to me and I asked if many adults came and did just for them and she said, "Oh yeah, you'd be surprised!" So, as we talked I told her my story and she said how sorry she was and that this was my birthday. She even thru in since it was my birthday the little dachshund puppy that can go in the big one's mouth so it looks like it's carrying a puppy! But as I was checking out I didn't know she had told another employee it was my birthday so they announced it was my birthday and sang to me! Then I met friends at Provino's for dinner and wouldn't you know it the waitress sat at the same booth we were in last year; it was just one of my friends sitting next to me instead of my Charlie! Then on Thursday I went to Chatt. after having to report to the unemployment office to file a new claim but all went well there; and picked up my sister and niece and we headed for Pigeon Forge and G'burg. Had a great time; went thru the time share spiel which lasted 3 hours instead of 90 min. like they told me originally! But got our gift card and then drove to Cherokee and went to Harrah's which was fun and since we had to drive over the mtn. where I want Charlie and I sprinkled together; I was able to show my niece all about that! We left Sun. morning and I dropped them off in Chatt. and headed home where my excitement really happened. I was 2 miles from the 85 exit off of 285 and I went to change lanes and when I did there it was right on me! A big piece of tire tread from and 18 wheeler that I had no choice and hit it; well I thought it was okay but about 5 minutes after I hit it the engine light and temp. light came on and I was losing speed quickly. I was 3/4 mile from the Doraville exit and was able to get off across from a porche dealership and the car didn't quit on me totally; it would have of course; but Praise the Lord and my Charlie angel I was able to pull off and was on a dead end street. So called Geico and they called the tow truck and I sat there for almost an hour in 98 degree weather and the tow truck guy turned out to be the same one that picked me up in April when the battery went dead and towed it in for me. I told him I know last time the car was full of tomato plants (which are doing great!)and flowers but now the car was loaded from a three day trip to the mtns. He was great, dropped me off at home and unloaded everything for me and brought it to the porch. I'm telling y'all we've been with Geico for 18 years and it pays to be with one that long. They have been just super. It is a non fault accident since it was a road hazard thing. However, it ever it took out the radiator, air conditioner condensor, the protective guard and a couple of sensors. So they are paying for everything past the dedecuctible and have provided me with a rental car. They towed it to my buds at Nash Chevrolet although when I first called they said they would have to tow it to the nearest chevrolet dealer which happened to be next door to the porche dealership, but I said, "Oh no, I need my car to be near me not 25 miles away from my house! They said they'd make a one time exception and cover this tow, but turns out it won't be a one time exception as this was covered under my collision/comprehensive and that's within a 50 mile radius as far as towing. So, now I'm waiting for the next three days for my car to be repaired. Hope all is well with y'all. Take care and God Bless!

    LOL - Another Adventure
You are one traveled lady...Charlie prepared you well....

You and I have crossed paths...

I have a friend that has a beautiful cabin in Bryson City. We go there sometimes in October when the leaves are changing. Anyways, we usually go to Maggie Valley and Cherokee, hitting the local shops, then back the Blue Ridge Parkway to the cabin.

Of course fishing is always on my agenda, so I'll buy a tribal license to trout fish along the road and stream going into Cherokee.

    Best,
    John

Wow, talk about taking care of business. You seem to handle yourself well in adversity along with some help from your friends. Enjoyed your adventure as I'm a stay put kind of guy. Perhaps I need to take a trip.
