I made a hair appt for Aug 13 and will post a new pic afterwards. Gray hair makes me look old not that 62 is young. LOL I wish I could change my weight just as easy but that's not in the cards. Oh well, I keep on going to WW without the scale changing much. Hope to lose at least 15 lbs by our east coast sisters meeting in October.

    You go girl!
Dye that gray hair! I did right away and thank goodness it didn't fall out :) Why look old before our time.
I'm with you on the weight issue, just can't seem to stop snacking!

    Can't wait
Can't wait to see your new pic. Good for you, a new "do" always makes us feel better - except for the "new bald do" which I will be sporting soon. I went to the American Cancer Society today for my free wig - thought it was kinda funny that most of them were gray. Needless to say, I didn't pick a gray one.

Go for it... it's a great pick me up. I colored mine again just last week, that's twice now since growing out from chemo. My grays are along the hairline though, so I can blend them with my new bottle blonde color. LOL

Can't wait for the new Char,

    Do whatever makes you happy!
Do whatever makes you happy! In my case, it was the opposite. I absolutely hated the chore of coloring my hair and, back in 2009 when I had back surgery, I decided to let it go grey. BTW, I think you look beautiful!

Hi Char--I could have written your post!
At first, I was just so happy to have some hair again and I thought, "Who cares if it's gray!" (I called it salt and pepper.) Then one day, I went to the mall and saw a pretty woman with gray hair and thought--"She is so pretty, but she'd look so much younger if she colored her hair." Then I realized--uh oh, that's me! I've since colored and I like it. However, the weight--that's another story. I'm so, so upset about the weight gain. I feel like a chubby blimp. I've never had weight issues before--but I do now. Yuk!

Char ... Color that gray right out of your hair ....
We all deserve to be healthy, happy and blond .. brown, or purple.

Its funny how a little TLC, new hair cut / color -- really gives us a little attitude adjustment.

Just thinking back last year ... I was excited and over the moon with my new shorty hair .. angel wings blowing in the wind ..I was just so happy to have HAIR. LOL .. ahhh that lasted about 3 months --- then I was off to my stylist -- to add the blond back into my life.! My stylist was adamant about not bleaching my hair for several months .. I said whats the worst that could happen .. my hair fall out, ?? Been there, done that. Sassy, right? Yes, I am.

Happy TLC to you Char .. the weight will come off in time .. just worry about you, and keeping healthy.

Can't wait to see your new hair color
What color is it going to be? Please post pictures. I love transformations.

I let my hair grow out gray 2 years ago. I'd only had it that way for about a year when chemo made it all fall out. I did a lot of observing of women of a certain age before I made my decision to let my hair grow out. My conclusion was it's not so much the hair color that makes a difference, but the style of both the hair and clothes and the way women carry themselves plays a significant part. Some women do have really ugly gray hair. Some are lucky. I loved my gray hair when I had it. I've compared pictures of me side by side - gray and blonde - and I don't think I looked any younger with my hair colored. Plus it cost me a fortune. When I finally got a wig in May, I tried on colors (I've had blonde hair most of my adult life), but they didn't feel right. The wig lady kept showing me blonde wigs. I was open to being any color that looked good, but they just didn't look like me anymore. I finally convinced her to let me try on a gray one. Even she agreed it was the most flattering. I think I was one of the lucky women whose gray hair was pretty and enhanced my coloring. I still plan on buying a colored wig sometime soon. It will be the same style as the one I have now. I haven't decided what color yet.

I've also been wearing my scarves again. I learned different ways to tie and wear my Titillating Turbans and I'm having some fun with them again. They're rather exotic.

Can't wait to see your new do! We deserve to feel good about our sppearance no matter what it takes.

Good for you Char! I couldn't fight the urge to color mine the other day! My husband called me "Jamie" HAHA! Jamie Lee Curtis & I said oh HECK no! Dont get me wrong....I like Jamie & good for her...but it aint for me! :) Although I'm still wearing my wig when I go out, I take it off when I'm home & I wanted it all to be one color again.

    Hi Char
Isn't it fun playing beauty parlor?? I'll also be losing my hair with chemo, or they told me it would be thinning. Time to go wig shopping again. Good luck.

    Gray be gone!
Mine is all gone now, too, thanks to Garnier! HAHA! My MO said not to use permanent color, but a semmi-permanent or rinse is fine. Gray is just another battle I will fight and win!

    Gray hair
Char - after all we have been through, we can do whatever we like (except, maybe, dance naked at the local mall????). My hair came back silver, not gray, but curly, shiny silver. Everybody goes gaga over it. Still, when I look in the mirror I see this whitehaired old lady, but can't motivate myself to dye it. I finally took the plunge and went to an expensive chichi poopoo salon, where a black clad guy with lots of silver jewellery styled my hair. He also talked me into buying some expensive goo to spike my hair. Bought huge hoop and dangle earrings, when husband saw them his comment was - holy cow, are you going to wear those? When he gets on my nerves I threaten him with dying my hair purple. Do I ever emphasize with your weight problem. I gained 10 lbs. during chemo and for the life of me can't get it off. Taking Lyrica, which causes water retention, or maybe it's eating lots of ice cream at night? Whatever - we desereve it.
    Many pink hugs, Marlene

    Wanna trade?
I'd be happy to trade! I'm older than you (65) but have natural dark brown (almost black but not quite) hair still. Before Chemo I had a very few silver trying to sneak in but none since it came back after Chemo. It's just genetic - nobody in Daddy's side of the family ever got grey even in their 90's but Mom's side did in their teens or early 20's. I got Daddy's side and Brother got Mom's side. I hate it when people i don't even know will tell me in stores that I'd look younger if I didn't dye my hair so dark.

Char I hear you. A new hairdo always gives one a lift. I decided to stay gray. I was blonde prior to chemo, and brunette prior to old age. I'm looking forward to seeing your new do. Char when it comes to weight all I can say is God help us.

Can't wait to see your new do. I did a temporary color when mine first grew back and hated it. I'd colored my hair for about 40 years, so I was really glad to be able to stop doing it. It's salt and pepper and one of my friends asked me if I'd had it colored that way. The salt is a silver white and I love it. Keeping it natural but I can totally understand all of you who want to get rid of the grey. I tried on my chemo wig one day (I'd only worn it twice during treatment - hated it) and I look soooooooo different. It was chin length and auburn. I probably looked younger, but along with the scars, the silver hair is a badge of this journey for me.
