Well I go down to San Francisco tommorow for a check up, I have not had a PET scan done for this. I had one done in May wich was only 7 weeks after radiation stopped and it was not clear. I imagine she will put the camera up my nose and take a look. One thing that has changed is my voice keeps going out, I hope it is something uther than the big C. I have not had any accossiated pain to go along with the horsness, I read that your thyroid can also cause this. Since I have not energy I hope that is what it is. We got back a week ago after 10 day trip in the motorhome, really wore me out. I had to stop in Salt Lake city to have an IV put in because of hydration. Anyway we had a great visit with my family in Idaho, the problem is that my wife took a real reallity hit that this might kill me. And since she has been a basket case, crying all the time and worrying about everthing. Anyway got me into doing some estate planning and what a downer that has been, but with three kids to think of it has been good to get some of this done. Anyway enough for that rant I just hope that tommorow brings good news, I have never had good news when I go to the Cancer doctors so the nerves are on edge now.

Brad

    First Time For Everything
And I hope you finally get some good news during your doctor's visit tomorrow (is the appointment tomorrow, or travel tomorrow?).

Your voice goes completely out? How irritating. And scary, for folks who've gone through head and neck cancer. I seem to have more "puberty boy voice moments" since neck dissection than I did after rads. Please let us know how it goes.

    voice change/loss
Not uncommon and mine was not a return of the "C". Yes she will spray you and run the tube down your throat but odds are it is just rad damage. The same thing happened to me.

    Good luck

    Scoped
My ENT scoped me every three months for the first two years, now it's every four - six months.

I too would get hoarse and my voice very raspy, rads damage I'm sure as all has come back clean so far.

Your blood work is always a good indicator of thyroid function. Primarily the TSH and Free-T4.

    Thoughts and Prayers,
    John

    loss of voice
Hi Brad, positive thoughts coming your way for a good exam and scope. That is what my ENT does to me every 3 mos. So far so good.

I too will on occasion lose my voice, or have it go very hoarse when I spen allot of time talking. The chronic dry mouth seems to be the culprit.

I know the waiting and dwelling is bad as I just had my exam and scope last Wednesday. I seem to start the big worry process about 5-7 days before the exam, I guess just part of the "new normal."

    Everything will turn out OK.

    Best!!

    Mike

Brad, It was nice to hear
Brad, It was nice to hear you had a nice vacation visiting your family. We will be praying for your scan results to be clean. I know by now you probably have the results and I hope you did well and just have not had time to post. No matter what happens continue to fight with all you got. I understand your wife being so worried as cancer devastates everyone close to you as well. Hopefully you will be OK, Homer & Connie
