G-Tube feeding diet suggestions durning chemo!

Hi everyone my dad is on his second week of chemo and the doctors are very impressed with the results they are seeing. The swelling in his face has gone down a lot and as of now they think things are moving in the right direction! But we are still not out of the woods yet, he is still on a G-tube and still has a trach. We have been trying to meet with a nutritionist, and finally talked to her. I have been doing a lot of research on the Alkaline diet, and the cancer free diet. I have also talked to a lot of people on here about it. So my question is does anyone know of a liquid formula that is used for G-tube feeding that is sugar free, follows the Alkaline diet, and is healthier! Everything we read is so conflicting as is the nutritionist, he is currently on Isosource, which has maltodextrin, and sucrose which are forms of sugar that we are told he should stay away from! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Check Sweetblood's H&N "SUPERTHREAD" it is awesome.
It's usually at the top of the thread page and has many links to discussions about tube food aka PEG nutrition.

I don't complain about the canned formula our onco's nutritionist prescribed, it worked during a crisis time and contained enough base nutrients to sustain life and enough fiber to keep my husband regular, which during chemo is no small feat.

Over time I've developed our own special sauce of blended whole foods supplemented with carefully selected nutrients. It's not easy but with vigilance it can be done, be mindful of vitamins/minerals, protein content, stuff like that. I'm able to blend whole banana, avocado, papaya/mango with EVOO, flax seeds, coconut milk and coconut water along with soy and other proteins + a good, whole-food based liquid vit/min formula. I have to use the syringe plunger to get it through the tube (remember, s-l-o-w-l-y with the plunger) but he can sure tell the difference now that he's getting foods his body likes & is accustomed to digesting.

Check out the Superthread for many more ideas and feedback on this topic and post any questions here, I have learned so much from these folks and you will too.
