Back to work

I went back to work last week. Guided hikes and mindful walks in the Palm Springs area all last week. Some at 10,00 feet and some in the valley in 115 degree heat. It felt so good to be back helping people get outdoors. First time working in over a year. 6 months post treatment was Tuesday. The body does heal.I'm back.

    Wonderful news!!
Congratulations Bob on getting back to work especially after only 6 months. Your job sounds like an ideal job as I love the outdoors but don't think I could take the 115 degree heat :)

    Stay well,

    Hi Debbie
I like you background, I am on my way to see some Mountains off the cost of Honduras. I am going to be like Bob, in a place I love doing something I love to do. Great healing for the spirit, mind and body.

    Take care

Further meditations on the "mindful walks" concept...
I got to spend quite a bit of time working in the Palm Springs area, about ten years ago. It's a very 'well heeled' group of folks who hang out in that neck of the woods. I can imagine that being guided on a 'mindful walk' and having their attention drawn to the incredible beauty of the natural area around them must be a very meaningful experience.

Now, "mindful walks" in my neck of the woods are quite a different thing. I was meditating on the concept as I cleaned my sawbuck pack saddle today. "Mind that rattlesnake under the rock ledge behind you!" "Mind that steep drop-off at the switchback in the trail!" "Mind you don't fall off when your horse jumps over that water crossing!" "Mind that wasp nest up ahead, your horse might get stung."

I am so happy to hear you are back at work, although it really isn't work if you love what you are doing. Watch that heat though. Salute from, Homer & Connie

    Double Wow! I finished
Double Wow! I finished treatment mid October 2010. Went back to work in January. After the fact, I went back too early. I felt great in December and then caught a virus. I have been very fatigued. Never was so happy to have breaks at school. winter, Easter and now summer. Listen to your body and keep that water bottle handy.

    Living Proof
    Bob,

Thanks for all of your support to so many here. You are an inspiration to many and living proof that if you live an active lifestyle, take care of yourself, and live healthy you can tolerate treatment well and bounce back to your life quickly. Good luck and God bless,

BTW- I can't wait to get back to walking the Appalacian Trail and hundreds of miles of trails and waterfalls here in NC.

If you are up to ...
"walking the Appalachian Trail" then your treatment must not be that bad. I had enough to do just keeping up with my wife those last few weeks ...

"Guided hikes and mindful walks" sounds like a metaphor for life
Cooler up in the altitudes and hot and dry--but beautiful--in the valleys, ain't it the truth.

What great news AB, gives Independence Day new meaning. Respect and congrats from your friend Lelia.
