I am so blessed....

Hi Fellow Fighters, I know I have not been posting, but I come here for support. This site, my friends here, people I have never met, have gotten me through the worst days of my life. They gave me advice, answered my questions, comforted me, and supported me. I could not have come this far without YOU. I am NED as of 2011. Just to give you a little background I have been catching up on other medical issues, I went to my eye doctor for a much neglected routine visit. He is a handsome, kind and gentle man in his 40's. I love him! Lol! In 2007, pre-cancer, he had done surgery on my eye, and for the first time in 30 years I could see out of that eye! I was so grateful. I had heard he was also a survivor of this beast. Speaking during our visit, I learned he had head & neck cancer, unknown primary - my exact diagnosis! The removed both lymph nodes in his neck, and he had 3 doses of chemo. He had lost all his hair, but still was as handsome and kind as always. I told him I had the same beast. We shared quick dry-mouth, lack of appetite, weight loss antidotes. I just want to say how thankful I am to be alive, that I did not have surgery - "just" chemo & rads for 3 months, and I had this site to laugh, cry, vent & learn. I made friends here I still communicate with, and I love each and every one of them! I feel so lucky that I did not have to endure surgery as I glanced at the scars down the each side of his neck, and his bald head. I did not realize what I, myself went through, until I saw him. I thank God that I have more time on this earth. I guess He's Not finished with me yet! Another PET/CT in August.I realize I miss talking to other survivors about these issues, because it will always be a part of my life. I have no idea if this makes any sense - but thanks for listening & God bless you! Patty (still not fatty)

    PattyAnny,
Wow - what are the odds your doc would have the same diagnosis as you? Thanks for coming in again - good to hear you're thriving. Keep it up.

Great pic John! It just made me realize how lucky I was NOT having to have my neck dissected. It was a wake up call, that so many have it worse off then me. I haven't been posting because it was too sad to see, that this has so many new members each day. It is a blessing to form friendships that I would never have had. I am grateful! God bless! Patty

    Hi Pam
That's what I said Pam - Wow! I just thought, he had to go to work everyday and treat patients. I had the "luxury" to lay in bed with all those wonderful side effects. It hit home it many ways! Hope all is well with you Pam! Thanks!

Great to see you poke your head in here as I've missed you. I picture a huge room where all of a sudden you see a group of people gather together and then laughter and commotion and who is in the center of it all--------Patty Patty still not fatty. Why don't you sit for a spell after the commotion and sip some tea with us.

but for the grace of God go I...
I did not realize how radical that surgery was Roz! I posted here because I don't want my family to worry, but it was so shocking that it could have been me with the a DOUBLE radical neck dissection! Here I am concerned with growing my hair to cover my rad burns on my neck, and there is this man, with a huge dissection, and no hair. How vain and selfish of me! :( It just brought me back to reality. Both he & I discussed how much our priorities have changed! It makes me realize, I am a work in progress. I have learned so much, but have a long way to go! I don't ever want to take my progress for granted, and this was a great reminder. Thanks Roz! You are an amazing person, and the admiration is mutual! Love Patty

God truly has His hands on me. :)
