6 months post chemo chills

in Head and Neck Cancer #1
Along with the array of anticipated complications and changes, my husband is still experiencing severe chills (especially during/after eating (even warm foods)- but at least he can eat now!). He is 6 months post last chemo treatment for NPC IVB. He did radiation and cisplatin then followed with cisplatin and 5fu. Just wondering if this was a common side effect this "long" post chemo? Thanks for sharing!

    I think it's fairly common
    and I experienced it for almost a year post treatment. Two reasons I can think of are weight loss and underactive thyroid from radiation damage. I had both and currently take thyroid medicine. Have his doctors monitor his bloodwork for thyroid issues and good luck with the care taking.

    Thanks, I called the Oncologist's office, they said his last TSH was a little high, so, are going to have his Doctor take a look at the file.

    Chills and just plain cold
    I finished in march my treatments, wore a sweatshirt almost all summer including durning 80-90 degree weather. I was cold and chilled. It took at least two summers before it became better for me and I had no thyroid problems.

    Sure hope it does not last as long for you.
