if my primary care doesn't react to bloodwork results, should I ?

I have been having UTIs and I am have an appt. with a urologist, but my latest bloodwork had elevated levels-- in two places relating to "Eos"---my little research didn't reveal anything "good" about that, however my doctor didn't mention a thing. So....?????? It looks like my "benign" kidney stones are beginning to cause me some problems. I just worry if the "Eos" relates to cancer.

    I know diddly squat about kidney stones or "Eos"...but I keep thinking about my oncologist's explanation of doing bloodwork to check for tumor markers -- he really stressed to me that a one-time elevated number was not necessarily a reason to worry, because other things besides cancer can cause the number to go up temporarily.

    I would definitely ask your primary care doctor and/or the urologist to explain the results, and maybe even ask for a 2nd test to see if the levels are still elevated, but please try not to worry too much yet.

    have copies of blood labs
    have copies of blood labs sent to different dr to have him/her look them over..for another opinion...

    Yes, since the same thing was elevated (doubled actually) in two different areas, I think I will fax my oncologist a copy.....that will settle me down--hopefully.

    Eos= Eosinophils
    Eosinophils are a type of white blood cells that are elevated with infection or inflammation. It is always a good idea to check out anything you are concerned about, but these may be elevated due to the inflammation caused by your stones...or from your UTI's...

    Been through it
    I've been through what you are going through.It was different.Blood in urine. The doctor didn't say anything at first but brought it up 3 months later for my appt.She said my last urinalysis showed blood but NO infection.I am proned to bladder infection.She said you need to see a urologist.I found one on my own.Went to see him.A bladder infection this time.So antibiotics.After a few weeks being on them the test came back still blood but no infection.It was time for some testing.I had the bladder cystoscopy and it was fine.No cancer. Then was scheduled for a CT scan for kidneys.I didn't want another so found a new doctor.He did a KUB.It showed I had 4 kidney stones but the CT scan done a year before showed 8.So I passed 4.And a kidney cyst was found.Those are common among people in their 60's and older.It all turned out fine for me.THe problem I had was none of my doctors who got the CT scan told me that I had kidney stones.Def the gastro doc got the CT results.He was later fired after another problem.

    Something else I found out is women can have bleeding for no reason.Tests show nothing.My friend(bc survivor) and her sister have that problem and my new urologist said his sisters have the problem. It took some time to get it all done and I was flipping out but now realize it can be many other things.BUT we cancer patients are going to fear the worse.I understand how you feel. AND when I told one person I was having bladder tests she spread the word as if I was very very ill.People should ask before spreading rumors.Not one time did she ask the results of the tests.

    I don't get the blood test for margins.Non invasive DCIS.I thought about it but I hear they prove wrong many times.It happened to a friend.Her blood worrk was elevated.She had tests and they found nothing.Then her blood work was bad again 6 months later.Test couldn't be done.Insurance will pay for them a year apart but it had been 6 months.So she had to wait it out.Eventually it showed nothing after over a year.

    I hope things turn out fine.It is very hard.Tere are so many other things it could be.Kidney stones aren't good but it was better than what could've been.

    is the key with many doctor's offices. We do worry, and a few words of explanation would really alleviate a lot of our stress. Tomorrow, my oncologist will have the report, and I am going to call another urologist to see if I can get in sooner, since my appt. is July 29th or something.

    This daily fever is a concern, even though now it usually doesn't go over 100.5, but I think it wears me out anyway---or worrying about it!!
