I do have good news! Well basically good news - there are 3 issues that could have been better yesterday but not really bad as far as I know now.

I saw my PA yesterday for semi-annual appt. I have been having more pain problems with my back - have had arthritis for years. She thinks (and so do I) that it's just the arthritis betting worse with time. She couldn't feel anything that felt 'off' but has odered another bone scan just to be sure which will be next Fri (also another bone density next Wed.).

2 pre-cancerous lesions on my nose had come back very small but had come back so they got frozen again.

Now for the 'worst' - but definately nothing compared to what so many are dealing with now - my thyroid has basically decided to quit working so it's on meds for it. Not really a surprise at all as I'd had radiation to throat area before I was 2 when my tonsils were taken out and then had radiation for the positive nodes area in neck 1 1/2 yrs ago.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all who are going through hard times now - I hope that I don't offend anyone by being 'up' with my latest appt.

May God (or your Higher Power) bless all!

Susan

A bit OT but Jan (PA) said that when she saw me on Aug 7, 09 she never thought she'd still be seeing me almost 2 years later - she's been my PA since 1996.

    Grrrrrreat!
Glad the pain you are experiencing is "only" arthritis, and know you will feel even better once the bone scan proves that. I must say though that it is the wrong time of the year for a red nose, would have been more appropriate when hanging out with Rudolph, and I am sure that the thyroid meds will get that all straightened out and that will make you feel better too.

MOST of all, the biggest celebration is that you have fooled them and are still here living life and giving inspiration to the rest of us.

We mourn and bleed for those going through the tough, and impossible times and the good part is....we get to CELEBRATE with the ones ready to party!!

Congratulations "lucky one" on your mostly good check up,

Now you have two reasons to celebrate, good news and your birthday! It sounds like you and the PA have everything covered. I'm glad she's being proactive and ordering the bone scan. Let us know how that turns out....now go celebrate!

    It's great to hear good
It's great to hear good news. While arthritis is no fun it's good to hear that this is what it is. And good to see they are keeping an eye on the skin issues. The thyroid while not great is better than those alternatives we hate to hear about. I am very happy that you shared with us. Hooray for Rague.

I'm happy that it's just arthritis although painful may it be. I suffer from osteoarthritis. I'm glad your PA is going to order a bone scan just be sure. I had my tonsils out when I was 5 but they never grew back. I'm in pain all the time but have never had a bone scan. I'll talk to rheumatologist about it next week. As for your thyroid, I know several women who take meds. I had a thyroid biopsy done right after being dx with bc but it was negative. I'm having colonoscopy and endoscopy tomorrow. Hoping to be clean :D

    Ask about a bone scan
My arthritis originally showed up in an Xray for something totally unrelated about 15 yrs ago, I don't even remember why she wanted it done - no pain then at all. After Chemo, rads and rad burns healed, she oldered a new Bone Scan as back was hurting by then to be sure that it was just the arthritis - that was a year ago roughly. I'd had a bone scan before starting Chemo and as I understood her was that she wanted a new on to be sure then that is was just the arthritis changes - it was. So now she wants a new bone scan to see if it's still just more arthritis changes.

(I was between 18 mths and 2 yrs when my tonsils were originally taken out)

Have you taken Etodolac? That's the new anti-inflammatory I'm on.
