i'm trying to get Dad into MD. It 's been taking so long. We sent his records and now we wait for the review board to decide to take him or not. I 'm so scared that they will turn him down. He has the two mets to the liver and damage from the chemo or SIRT which has resulted in ascites which is controlled by diauretics. He hasn't been on any chemo since last Oct. He was in remission, but now the beast is back. Waiting for MD is nerve wracking. He's not on any chemo or anything until we get in to see them. His new onc wants to wait to see what they have to say. UCLA says put him on Avastin and Xeloda. Good Sam says do more SIRT or RFA. I understand MD is the best so we're waiting. Has anyone had experience with the review process for them? It's nice to talk with people who know what you are feeling. i love my Dad so much and want him around a lot longer. He is still playing golf and he feels good.

I was treated at MDA. When did you or your Dad's doctor reach out to them? It helps to have the doctor do it and it sounds like the records were sent. How long has it been?

We tried to get my mom in there. Had the doctor send all medical reports, but they turned her down because they don't take Arkansas Medicare. She would have to pay everything up front. Hopefully your dad won't have that problem. Good Luck.

Hi! It took me about 4
Hi! It took me about 4 months from the date I was referred. It was very frustrating, but worth it. I have been 2 times since May and will go back in July. They are very caring and compassionate-you are not just a number. However, I did keep calling them about every 2 weeks and had my doctor call also. Keep calling...it will be worth the wait. Best of luck!

Thank you so much, all of you. I will keep calling. And thanks for the link! In the meantime, I'm going to ask his onc to put him on Xeloda and Avastin. I'm also having him do alternative therapies. I figure it can't hurt unless they are incompatable. I just don't want to wait 4 months if I have to without him being on anything.

Sorry you are having trouble getting in. My insurance got me right in. Maybe you should go that route. I will keep you in my prayers.
