At my 3rd treatment I found out that my tumor marker went down from 337 to 70 then to 17. I went for my 4th treatment today and they removed Oxaliplatin from my cocktail. This will help me with the neuropathy. YAY.....I can drink cold things and touch cold things without pain!!! The best of the news was I gained another 4 lbs so I have regained 11.3 pounds back since my colon surgery in January and the greatest news is my tumor marker is now at 5.9!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO ECSTATIC!!!!!!!!! My Onc is having do an MRI on my abdomen 7/6 to see if the lesions are still in my liver. If not, possibly I will not continue the chemo or if the lesions are just dormant, I can go ahead and do the liver resection. I am starting to feel my side effects but I don't even care if I feel sick.....it's working.....I'm winning. I am so grateful to all who have prayed and supported me this far. I can't put into words how happy and thankful I am.

Hugs,

Pam

    Wonderful news!
Oh, Pam- this is such wonderful news! Wow- amazing how your tumor marker has come down so much! I'm dealing with my CEA right now, as mine had been going up and up. I just got my results that it went down 7 points over the past 4 weeks from 319 down to 312. Still quite elevated, but at least it didn't go up again this time.
Your story gives me hope that it is possible for this to really go down big time.
Keep letting us know how you're doing- sounds like you're doing great!!

Lisa, I read your news right
Lisa, I read your news right before I posted. What treatment are you on? I am doing Folfox w/Avastin. I also am taking Neulasta shots to boost my white blood cells. I had 15 lesions across my liver on the MRI in February and am hoping this scan will show none there. I took my 10 year old with me to treatment today to let her have an idea of what my day is like. She has such a hard time coping with all of this so the Onc nurse at her support group thought it would be helpful for her to see what treatment day was like for me. Lisa I am praying that your CEA level will also start dropping. It's one thing to go through all of these side effects and feel like you could die somedays and it do nothing but it is worth it all if it's killing this crap! We'll make it through this together Lisa. I am hopeful for both of us. Take care of yourself and never give up!

    Love & hugs,

    Pam

    Hi again Pam,

I am currently on Gemzar/5FU and Avastin. I already went through all the other chemos (Folfox w/ Avastin, Folfiri w/ Avastin, a combo of Erbitux and Folfiri and Avastin before I knew I was kras mutated, so couldn't take anymore Erbitux. I've also had Xeloda a few different times. The Gemzar I'm on isn't FDA approved for colorectal cancer, just other cancers, but I'm on it based upon a clinical trial that Dr. Lenz at USC ran in 2006, which showed some good response. I've been on it since March 2010.

I'm so glad you're having such a great response to the chemo- really! It's really pretty amazing! You go, girl and keep giving me inspiration- hopefully, I'll start bringing up the rear (so to speak, lol) and I'll start doing better too.

    Hugs,
    Lisa
