pray for mum please.

mum is in hospital again, she was drained on wednesday and they perforated her bowel, she is on antibiotics and is stable but the surgeon said this could change within a matter of hours. He then went on to say that it would be very challenging to operate on her if they can't control it with antibiotics.Fingers crossed it heals on it own , that is what the surgeon is hoping.
Poor mum hasn't had anything to eat or drink since Wednesday, it must be awful for her , although she has said that she doesn't feel hungry.
I will update if there is any futher progress.

    That's terrible! I am so
That's terrible! I am so sorry to hear this! Bowel perforations can be VERY serious. I hope your mom recovers quickly, and without having to undergo surgery.

Just a suggestion, but I would insist on the best specialist around, if she has to have surgery. The skill of the surgeon can make a huge difference in the outcome of any operation.

Well I have just phoned the
Well I have just phoned the hospital and spoken to mum, good news bloods ok , blood pressure is up , ct scan is showing an air pocket in her peritoneum , and that the bowel has a nic and isnnot perforated.I don't get how she has an air pocket if it is only a nic! but this is what 'the experts' are saying.Mum also had a 250ml wee in the night this is also another good sign.

Fingers crossed we are heading in the right direction, yesterday I was petrified, I was there the first time for an hour , in that time there were 2 guys from the surgical team , and various cunsultant oncologists, as well as other nurses doing various tests.scary times.

I am heading up there shortly to see mum, so will update later, thanks for all your well wishes xxx lix xxx

    been to hospital again today
been to hospital again today , mum is still stable , I just hope it repairs its self quickly now and that we can return to normal, well the new normal as quickly as we can.
This sounds funny but she passed wind earlier for the first time , which is a good sign, its not passing into her peritoneum , so we are still going in the right direction.

    Good news
So pleased things are looking good for your Mum, lots of good signs..... it is funny when certain bodily functions are a need for celebration, I remember when mum had her op, we were so pleased when she passed a good amount of urine, then when she had wind, then when she had a bowel movement but as you say they do indicate good news X

    Thinking of Y'all
So frustrating that a seemingly minor procedure triggered this problem. So relieved that your mom seems to be mending nicely, and the surgeons' fears were unfounded. (Glad they were on the ball, though!) Hope she is soon home, and eating/drinking normally. Please take care of yourself, while taking care of her.
