Bladder/melanoma combo platter

Hi Y'all,
I was dx with a TCC grade 1 back in 2002 and with miserably botched outpatient surgery, that left me in ICU for a week and in the hospital for a month I was released. I followed up with bcg. In 2004 I had a minor blip on the radar, rather the cysto, that showed a suspicious lesion in 2004. It was surgically removed as an outpatient (Yikes) and mytomycin administered. Whew, this one went a lot better. They assure me that I am back on track for a full recovery. Wait, this gets better. In 2008 I went to my dermo to have tiny black mole examined and whammo, here we go again, it was a melanoma. I was given this news on my answering machine when I got off work. Nice touch I thought, doctors can be so sensitive...............not. Both urologic oncologist and dermotologist have assured me that neither of these is related to the other but I can't help but wonder. Just wonder if anyone else out there had any experience with these two.

Still dodging the ball down here in Georgia.................thanks.

June 2011 suspicious lesion in bladder-uro wants to wait 6 months and cysto again.

Can't believe I am the only one to respond to your email. There have to be others who have experienced this combo of cancers.

How are you doing now? I'm sure you've had your cancerous mole removed by now. Best of luck to you as you continue to 'dodge the ball'.

Thanks so much for your response. Looks like we reversed the order and yes I had that mole taken off 3 days after they notified me on my answering machine that it was cancerous. Glad I got the message because my answering machine goes out more than I do. It was a stage 0 but they still took a big chunk right about where my vaccination was when I was a kid. I ended up with 10 stitches inside and 10 outside and this mole was the size of a bb. Thanks for your concern and please keep me informed about your next cysto. One question? Why didn't they cauterize the spot during the cysto. I have had that done before and it beat the alternative to pieces.

Your question about cauterization is the same one that I have. Not sure my dr has that capability. Don't think he sees alot of bc. I've decided that for my peace of mind that I need a bc specialist. Have started the self-referral process for MD Anderson...might as well go to the best! Also scheduling appt w/dermatologist. Been several years since a check up. Trying to be more assertive in my care.
Keep in touch. When is your next cysto? Hoping for lots of 'all clears' for you!
