    I don't have answers
However, here is some place that may have answers for you. It is for people who have been
diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. There are a lot of research articles there. I am hoping that this will be of use to you.

    CT-Pet Scan
    Hi there.
I too was diagnosed last Sept. 2010 with Triple Negative, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage 2, Grade 3, Tumor Size 3.5cm with two positive lymph nodes. I've had a lumpectomy in Oct. 2010, same chemo as your wife, re-excision surgery on Apr. 27, 2011 to clear the margins, and unfortunately some residual cancer was found and I will have a mastectomy on June 1st.

I asked my oncologist about having a CT, MRI, or PET Scan done in six months as a check-up and he explained to me that he would not consider such scans unless there was indication or suspicion of metastasis.

As I understand it, there are possibilities of false positives with such scans.

What was the reasons for your wife having the scan done? Have you met with the oncologist since the scan to discuss the results? Only the oncologist and surgeon would be able to determine whether a recurrence has happened and if so what the next best course of action will be.

    Keep us posted.

Only her Drs can tell you.
I will tell you the same thing someone said to me over a year ago when my PET showed 'something' along my jaw bone - worrying about what you don't know won't help anything (not the exact words but the intent - get it checked out and then you'll know. In my case, there was nothing there as shown by a biopsy but for some reason it had lighted up in the area on the scan.

You didn't mention what type BC or stage (or type of surgery). Also why was the CT/PET ordered? Not all Dr's want scans done unless they think there is an issue going on. Mine don't (well other than Mammo) but have had 2 CT's and 1 bone scan since surgery. Rad DR wanted a CT before starting Rads and my PA wanted a bone scan because I was having more pain in arthritic area (just arthritis a bit worse) and then had some horrendous headaches in a localized area thta only Dex gave relief with so she ordered another CT - again nothing showed.

I know it's hard to wait to talk with DR but worrying helps nothing. Thoughts and prayers!
