update

Hi everyone. I've been so focused on the counseling practice I have little time to wander these boards, but I have a bit of news I wanted to share.

I had my 12 month PET scan Monday and last night I got the word from my ENT, "I think we got this thing cured ... ". I blogged it on my website and posted the mp3 of his voice mail to me and you can hear it here.

I have to say it's a bit weird hearing those words - I'm not jumping up and down doing any happy dance stuff. It's more like I just finished a very long book and I'm ready for the next one. I am very happy, but for the most part I'm relieved I can finally put it behind me.

Thanks for all the support, prayers, thoughts, help here. I would have been so lost without this community. Because of my work as a counselor I give most of my time to my clients - we're a low fee/sliding scale so we see a lot of people - which leaves me little time to participate here. But I intend on contacting SPONHNC and ACS and letting them know I am available as a resource for anyone seeking info, support, a person to talk to who has been through it. I'll make sure to direct anyone who contacts me here and I will visit from time to time to say hi.

All The Best,

Mick

    Great news
Mick, so good to hear from you and better yet to hear your news.

Best of luck with your new practice.

My volunteer job is at a low/sliding fee clinic, both counseling and medical so I know how much need there is out there.

    GREAT NEWS!!
    Mick
I got the same "NED" news a few months ago. I am 14 months post treatment now and I, like you, still look over my shoulder, but damn it makes you feel good, right? I am happy as I can be that you got good news. Keep posting when you can. Love to hear from you...

Take what you learned and allow it to help you help others. Funny how we learn the most from the most difficult times in our lives.

PS The Taylor is doing great. I play at a small local bar now and they love me coming - but not to see me, so they might get a chance to play my guitar.

It was wonderful to have you as part of my support team when I started out here, and it's wonderful to hear from you now! Doing the happy dance for you.

Here's hoping for many many more 'happy anniversaries.'
