Interesting side effects

We have been talking about serious side effects of radiation years after the end of treatment. Has anyone experienced unusual ones which are not so serious? Buzz lost his whistle but gained long, dark, curly eyelashes! He looks like he is wearing mascara. Karen

    Interesting Side Effects
I actually did gain a "good" side effect years after treatment.

Before radiation in '96 I wasn't the artistic type. Now I have a passion for the arts.

    Hi Buzz

The side effects are different for everyone and the ones I hate the most are the ones that sneak up on you years down the line when you are not looking.

    Take care

Old McDonald had a mute pig - Ey Ay Eh Ay Ohhh
Well I can't grunt like a Pig anymore.

    The only time this is missed is when I sing 'Old McDonald Had a Farm' and if my little girl sings '...Has Pig', well, I'm screwed ! I simple can't to the Pig noise ;o{

I have to revert to 'Oink OInk Here and an Oink Oink there' version which doesn't really sound like many Pigs I have encountered, and being a farm boy of sorts, I have met a few.

    Scam

    Herky Jerky...
...at least this is what Mark calls it; and I am wondering if anyone else has it. He has random, spontanious jerks of his head. It kinda pulls to the right, and looks a little like a dance move. It bothers him, but it doesn't hurt. It bothers him because he doesn't understand where it comes from (doctors don't know) and he can't control it. I have to stop myself from mirroring it back...just because it is kinda like a dance move. LOL.

    Tongue
I can't stick my tongue straight out any more. It goes to the left. Also no way to sing Old MacDonalds, the E,I,E,I,O sounds like a cat with a mouth full of molasses.

    CaCaw!
I seem to have lost my CaCaw! It was a high-pitched imitation of a crow, and was invented at my work as a way to let the other cubicle-dwellers know that the boss was headed in their direction. Boss came down the hall, and I tried to CACAW and it just came out as a raspy croak. He came up without warning behind a coworker, who was embroiled in a loud personal phone call with her kids, and heard the entire thing. At that point, all the rest of the group were screaming CACAW for me and laughing hysterically. Ah well.

About the herky jerky head thing; could this possibly be a manifestation of our old friend, the LeHermittes' syndrome? I still twitch sometimes, although it is getting better.

    Smelling the roses!
I'm 2 years post-rad for parotid cancer. I regained my taste only 6 weeks post rad, but realised sometime after that, that I can no longer find a divine-smelling rose. I used to enjoy them so much. Small price to pay, though!
