I am new to this board. I was dia with stage IV colon cancer with mets in the liver and lung in 04/2010. I have had 10 rounds of radiation and 10 rounds of 5fu while in the hospital in April 2010. Blockage was reduced and I went through 12 rounds of chemo (5fu/oxil/lucov). That was finished in Nov 2010. I was put on Avastin every three weeks after that, and my last Avastin was 1 week ago. My regular onoc has left the practice. All along things ( so I was told) were going great) My new onoc now tells me the Avastin is not working. He wants to do a clinical trial with Irinotecan and Cetuximab with or without Ramucirumab. This rollercoaster is really hard to take. Does any one have experience with the Irinotecan/Cetuximab. I am 52 years old with a husband, 2 grown daughters and a beautiful granddaughter and I am not ready to give up, just scared

    That is correct. All along
That is correct. All along I was told things are looking great. I was even told I have a better chance of getting hit by lightening than this cancer doing me in. Then she left the practice... and it went downhill from there. I don't know if I was not told the truth, but I am sooo confused. I had a scan in October and everything was shrinking, then a PET scan and I was told they can not see the tumor in the lung, and the liver mets were shrinking and the original tumor in the colon was gone, just hardened mass from radiation. They tell me surgery is not an option, but I have been reading some of the discussions and it appears there are alot of options

    Our treatments
and timelines are similar. I have had no mets to any major organs, but I do have extensive lymph node involvement. I am just a year older than you.

I am also starting the Irenotecan/Cetuximab regimen, but without the Ramucirumab, beginning of June.

Many of us are on the "lifetime" chemo plan, with regular change-ups in the cocktail.

It is not giving up in any way. It is just part of the new normal of being a cancer patient.
