A little milestone for me on this journey

I saw my surgeon this afternoon for a follow-up appointment to my mammogram last week (he never feels I've been completely evaluated until he gives me a breast exam himself). I'm almost 2 years out from diagnosis, and he's now switching me from 6-month mammograms to annual mammograms.

It's a small thing, I know -- I'll still see my oncologist every 3 months, so it's not like it really cuts down on my appointments. But it feels like such a milestone....like, annual mammograms is what "normal" women do, you know? And, 2 years ago or even 1 year ago, it never seemed I'd ever get to this point.

Here's to little milestones on all our journeys!

Hey Traci, I don't consider this a "little" milestone, I consider it "HUGE"! So happy for you!

Now, are we suppose to give you a ribbon or a lapel pin or something as an award? LOL Sorry, you are such a joker that I just HAD to throw one back at you.

    Huge hugs, Megan

Every milestone we reach makes a big difference in our lives. Now you have one more day for yourself and not a doctor.

    Great News!
For us, no milestone is too small to be celebrated. Instead of a single step - you just took a big leap along the journey. :-)

    Kind regards, Susan

It doesn't matter what it seems like to people that are not in the "club." We all know that it is progress. Great news!

    Good News
Such good news you are cancer free and now mammos every year.Yes you are back to being normal.

My doctor(Breast Surgeon) also sees me all the time. Not just the oncologist.Ive been seeing a breast surgeon since I was 20.I'm on my 3rd surgeon(all retire) but I feel comfortable having the surgeon and the oncologist keeping up with me.

Oh my 2 year anniversary will be soon(AUG).I hope my result is as good as yours and I will be seeing my doctors once a year.Knowing me I might be in sooner.Seems when I do my self exam I feel something.I guess it is scar tissue. They don't find anything but I do(or think I do).
