Hi everyone, well I finally figured out that all my joint pains had nothing to do with anything I have been doing during the day and I had enough, so I went to see my Oncologist. He said is was a side of effect of Femara so he told me to take a break for a week and he switched my to another med called Aromasin. Im going to try that one for about a month then I have another appt with the doc and we will discuss how I did on that one. Those of you having the joint pains and are on Femara, talk to your doctors.

Love

Lupe

    Good Luck!
I hope the switch to Aromasin works for you! I did the same thing but I couldn't tolerate the Aromasin either. I was on both longer than you and did have progressive joint pain and a few other problems! Good Luck! Everybody reacts differently. HUGS!!! Cathy

I was just taken off tamox and not sure what I am going on next....will a break of week really make a differnce?

I was told I had to be off mine for month...to get out of my system...now I am going on 2 mths...waiting until more blood work to be done@ then decide what I'll be prescribed!

I HOPE you find something without joint pain if they change you..

Well its been exactly 1 wk
Well its been exactly 1 wk since I stop taking Femara, not much of a difference to be honest. As long as Im not doing anything, which includes driving or doing my chores at home, I feel some relief, but as soon as I start the severe pain is back and then I can hardly sleep at night.

Denise, I was on Tomaxifen and was switch with out break to Femara when my ovaries were removed. I wonder why you were told a month & im told a wk.

I dont know what Im going to do. Should I start the new med or wait? I guess Ill have to talk to my oncologist when he gets back frm Vacation. This is frustrating.

You might need more time to see results
    Dear Lupe,
One week may not be enough time for you to see results. I am suspecting that the drug stays in our bodies for an unspecified length of time after we cease taking it. I also believe that the length of time varies with each individual.

    Lots of Hugs,

    Update:
    Well Aromasin was

    Update:

Well Aromasin was worse of all the meds Ive taken. Not only did the joint pain not get better, on top of that I had Migraine Headaches, nausea and my hair started to thin out and the Hot flashes were unbearable even on Effexor. Went to see my onc after being on the Aromasin for 1month. Can you believe he switched me back to Tamoxifen. Med I was on b4 they removed my ovaries. Been on Tamoxifen for about 2wks now, doing much better, no more migraines, nausea, still some joint/bone pain of course, but according to my docs just take baby aspirin and thats all they can say about the pains which sucks since im in a position right now that I have to start looking for a job b4 unemployment runs out.

I am glad that you are feeling better on Tamoxifen. Tamoxifen was much better for me than Arimidex. As far as side effects from aromatase inhibitors, it will take several months. Unfortunately for me some of them have been irreversible.
Good luck with your job hunt.
