Sundance Invites You to C'mon In - Say HI to "A Friend of His"

Howdy, Ya’ll, please allow me to introduce myself and make your acquaintance – I’m “Big Billy Bad A$$.”

I’m Craig’s unseen alter ego and his sidekick when it comes to fighting Cancer – together, we form TEAM SUNDANCE. That’s my picture over there in the avatar – how do you like me now?

I guess the first thing you should know about me is this…“I $hit Lightning – and I Cr@p Thunder !!! “

I’m the guy that Craig turns to when the going gets rough and he needs a little “helping hand” to keep him propped up and on his feet – forever advancing in his battle with his Cancer.

I have to be honest with you, Craig does alright on his own and is plenty capable of fighting his own fights – I just show up when the going gets a little rough – and the tough need to get goin’.

I remember Craig saying awhile back, when this 3rd recurrence unfolded, that he might “Bend or Waver” some during this long fight, but that he would not “break.” And that has certainly been the case here once again.

Modern medicine has had him at the breaking point a couple of times during this battle though, and he readily acknowledges his shortcomings there. The radiation treatments were “Kryptonite” to this wannabe Superman and had him on his knees, begging for death and wanting to let go.

But, they did not “finish him off.” They let him up and once he gets back on his feet, it’s generally T-R-O-U-B-L-E. I believe he wrote in his Thanksgiving Day message to his cancer, “He11 is coming with me!”

For those of you that that have gotten to know him, you know he is a fierce and determined Texan SOB, who never backs down from a good fight – he’s as stubborn as the dirt itself. This has served him well in his fight. Craig lives by a simple rule in life – “Don’t expect too much, and you won’t be let down.”

For myself, I’m proud to stand alongside him and fight with him and to fight for him – fighting for 7-years is not what we envisioned when we started out – but Cancer is calling the shots, not us. We merely play the hand that we are dealt – and we think we still got a mighty “cool hand.”

Truth be told, Craig has fought this battle as much for the Semi;Colon Nation as he has for himself – now, that’s a true story….or as Ripley says, “Believe It or Not.”

Why he’s still alive after seven years is anybody’s guess. What he wants to show everyone is that a “long term fighter” has the opportunity to possibly walk away from this train wreck, although it would be June 2016 before he could possibly call himself NED. Because that’s the medical, clinical definition of NED and until he reaches that date with no recurrences, he merely says he is back to a “Watch and Wait” mode.
If he can’t win that one, then what he wants to show is that some of us can fight for many, many years when the odds are all “weighted against us.” You would think after 7-years, we’d have figured it out by now, but you can believe that we’re still working on it:)

I guess in the big scheme of things, that’s all that any of us can really do anyway. Scan-Watch-Wait….and in between, fight like there’s no tomorrow!

Oh, one other thing Craig wanted me to mention to you….there is still time to call your bookies and get your bets down on who the winner of this fight will be. Vegas has the odds running at 50%. We’ve got the big “Results Show” post somewhere in mid-May, so there is still time. Please keep your wagers friendly as Craig does not want you betting the farm or the ranch house on him, LOL:)

Even Craig himself, does not know where he stands, so it’s anybody’s fight still. Is the Cancer winning? Or did Craig knock down Recurrence #3 with an emphatic “THUD.”

Many people have bet against this man and have counted him out throughout his lifetime – he thrives when the odds are against him and when folks have pronounced him Done:) I did mention that he was stubborn, right?

We’ve been keepin’ a low profile for this battle – just taking our beatings and fighting our fight quietly – just takin’ care of business. But we’re just about ready to come out from behind the shadows once more and get back in it.

I also wanted you to know that Big Billy has been following your stories as well. And I want you to know that there is a “Big Billy” inside each one of you. You just gotta’ keep digging until you find him. And if you haven’t found yours just yet, then you can call on me or Craig, and we’ll stop by and sit down in the mud with you awhile – we’ll contemplate life’s mysteries and Cancer’s intricacies.

I guess that’s all that I had to say – just wanted to meet you folks, Craig speaks so highly about each and every one of you out there, even those folks that won’t talk to him or don’t particularly care for his way – he loves you anyway:)

I’ll close this post with this last thought:

Even though Cancer has burnt him to the ground on many occasions, he steadfastly arises from the ashes of the battle each time. Simply stated, Sundance is….. “The Phoenix.”

One last thought comes to mind – but you guys probably already know this about him anyway, but I’ve seen it in him since he joined this board.

Your Sundance is a man OF the People – more importantly, he is a man FOR the People. He lives inside his heart – and that’s a mighty big place:)

We’ve got one last Folfiri treatment this Wednesday and then one of the biggest battles of our lives, and for our lives will be at an end. We see the Finish Line now – it is in our sights and we’ve just got to drag ourselves there, so we can get some rest.

What looked like an impossible battle when it all started is now finally in reach with all of the protocols about to wrap up. Surgery-Radiation-Chemo.
