immune system damage

Anyone have permanent damage to their immune system due to treatments for NHL?
My family doc thinks that is what is going on with me - have been sick off and on since November - as long as I'm on antibiotics I get / feel better - but as soon as the antibiotics are gone, I'm right back sick again with sinus-like issues. Just had a CT, which my onc says was good & am starting last round of Rituxan maint. treatments. Family doc & onc wants me to see an immunologist - but appointments are months away. Anybody been through this, and if so, how did you get through / did you see an immunologist / what did they say???

    Terese,
Just finished my last round of R treatment today. First 6 month round since remission in Oct.2010. Funny you should mention sinus infection/cold. I have had a sinus/cold for over a week now. I will let you know what happens. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    Just wondering...
You know...my headaches and sore throat didn't start until after my first dose of maint Rituxan (Feb 14th). Neither did the swelling in my neck and underarm. We all re-act different to medicines, so maybe the Rituxan(given by itself) is the culprit. I'll bring this up with my Onc on monday. I'm glad your all done with your first 6 month round of Rituxan John, and now have 5 months to rest. Take care of that cold/sinus and get plenty of rest and fluids in you. Sure hope I can re-start my R on Monday...keepin my fingers crossed. Hope you all have a good weekend. Cold and rainy here..UGH! Sue (FNHL-2-3A-6/10)

Hope you get the results today so you can post. BTW the weather is 83 degrees and sunny here in NC. We got some storms headed this way tonight though. John(FNHL-1-4A-5/10)

    Rixtuxan/Bendamustine
My husband’s only just started his treatments of R/B last month for Non-Hodgkin's Follicular Lymphoma, side effects thus far fatigue and joint pains and minor nose bleed (which the doctors said could be due to dryness in the weather). I hope this isn't a sign of any thing down the road with sinus problems.

Doctor's appointment today went well...examination confirms the lumps have shrunk. Next treatment of R/B is on the 20th of this month. We have a CT Scan scheduled for May 2nd to see if any changes in the Lymphoma. But for now continue 2 more treatments of R/B. Once the road is clear, the next course will be to proceed will be a "maintenance" or "consolidation" treatments. Maintenance would include Rituxan alone every 3 to 6 months versus consolidation with ZEVALIN (antibody with Radioactive seed) to keep Lymphoma in check. Before we determine the type of treatment, the bone marrow biopsy will need to be done to confirm that Lymphoma is no longer present.

    Has anyone used ZEVALIN?

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great weekend. Thoughts and prayers to you all.

    Thank you.

    Hi
While I was having chemo for follicular NHL in 2009 I had a freezing nose, and a sore throat constantly. Now I have a sore throat a lot. I have been to an ENT doctor for two scopes and she said I had acid reflux. I take medicine but still get the sore throat. No other issues with my immune system. I did have a pnemonia shot though. Hope you get to the root of the problem. I am surprised it takes so long to get an appointment. Tell them you have had cancer. That usually speeds it up. Take care joanie
