Low Potassium

Has anyone had low Potassium results? Any ideas on what could cause it. GI Dr. said it could be from PPI med, but would typically see low Magnesium also, if that were the cause. I've done the typical web searches but thought I'd ask here too.

    Low potassium
My husband has also had problems with his potassium levels as well as magnesium levels. After having a severe bout of diarrhea while on his present chemo treatments he was hospitalized for 5 days for severe dehydration. He was given both potassium and magnesium then. He has continued to have problems with the potassium. He goes in to the Dr. office every 4 or 5 days to receive hydration and usually they give potassium as well. The Dr. prescribed liquid potassium to be taken orally, but every time he tried to take it it made him vomit. I notices in the info William posted that is stated low potassium levels seem to be common in bariatric surgery patients.

    Thank you
Thank you, to everyone, for your input. I think I have to get past the fear of "every little thing could be something big", thought process. The doc's are going to take him off his Proton Pump Inhibitor med and re-test in three weeks. He has not been vomiting or having diarrhea, he has been eating pretty normally now for about six weeks. I just keep hearing the sound of "the other shoe dropping" in my head.
