Nearly two years post and all is good, no cavities or work to be done.....hoping it will last for a long time. Because I don't like dentists.... (nothing personal...well ya maybe kinda).

    Having the exact opposite day
Spent all night in a 'funk' over an orthodontist appointment comming up on Thursday for and extraction evaluation. Was at the dentist yesterday. I spend tooooooo much time at the dentist. Just thought it was interesting how two people are having such opposite experiences to the same cancer. It really is an individual cancer and it really depends.

John I'm happy for you though. Hope you get a lolipop!

    Sure rub it in. Lol
I am happy for you. I think a lot of it has to do with saliva. Which I have like zero of. I can barely talk for a few minutes. Sometimes I get the dry heaves because I am so dry. I cannot just swallow, I have nothing to swallow. I have to take a drink to swallow. It is ridiculous and really annoying.

Great to hear about the excellent dental result. Since treatment, I've had one root canal, two Crowns, and he rebuilt the bottoms of my top two front teeth=$. He's a good Dentist, but that don't mean I gotta like him!

    Saliva
Actually, I'm not using anything special other than I do use the OralB flouride gel a few times a week.

I know that Dawn and others have a lot of problems with dry mouth and dental work. It's not unusual for me to be in need of dental repair frequently either. I have had a lot of fillings during my younger years. The old metal fillings that eventually breakup and each time they repair them, you're left with less tooth and more filling.

Like Kent, I'm at the point anymore of having root canals and crowns. I just happened to be lucky during this period.

Anyways, I'm not sure if it was due to all of the Amifostine Injections during the daily rads or not. But after a six month period of very little taste or saliva, both have returned to nearly 90%+. I mainly only have a dryer mouth during sleep at night.

I was lucky also of never having the thick mucous that I read so much about. That was also supposedly another advantage of the Amifostine. So in my case I can only say good things about it, though I did get really sick during the last few days and had to give the last few up.

I did keep the small spray bottles of Biotene in my car for those occasions when I did have dry mouth and the mouthwash for home.

I also had the period of having a bottle of water with me at all times, taking a sip every few minutes and with each bite of food.

    Dry mouth products.
I am surrounded by dry mouth crap. I use them like 50-75 times a day. Seriously. Next to my bed right now I have a bottle of bioténe oral balance liquid, a tube of the gel, a tube of C Bigelow mint lip moisturizer, and a bottle of Act bublegum fluoride rinse. In the bathroom tons of mouthcare crap and in my purse biotène spray. I use a tube of the oral balance gel per week, never mind all the rest of it.

I don't even want to know how bad I would be if I didn't get those shots. My mouth is so dry that I have trouble even talking because my lips stick to my teeth. So annoying.

They need to come up with a salivary gland transplant when they take one out, they could put a new one in.

Radiologists told me to start drinking club soda before sleeping and it has really helped with the dry mouth so you may want to try it.Hope it will help you like it has me.

    Good going Skiffin
I am just the opposite and probably have similar problems as Sweetblood. I told my dentist to keep on fixing. In fact, have two more cavities that will be worked on next Monday.

    Club Soda
That's funny that you mention that....

When a kid, and even now occasionally I buy and drink club soda or soda water. My mom would always get on me when a kid, "That stuff is gonna rot your teeth)....

Just struck me as funny being the nature of my original post...

    Club soda?
I will try that. Last I tried carbonated beverages they still hurt my tongue. I will try again and get a small bottle to try. Wondering what the club soda has in it that would help?

    Cleansing Effect
Probably just the cleansing effect of the bubbles....but for me being Abi-Normal,I actually like the taste, LOL.

I like Welch 100% Concorde Grape juice...when mixed with club soda, it's kind of like a grape soda that you'd buy.But in my mind atleast healthier as it is naturally sweet and fizzy from the club soda.
